Lots of places won’t even accept cash any longer. I know I have used my debit/credit cards exclusively for over 7 years. Since we moved to our retirement home 7 years ago, I haven’t gotten any cash from an ATM machine. It could be because the cash isn’t moving through the system like it did in the past that it’s not wearing out for a longer period of time?

It’s accepted here but I don’t use or carry cash, especially paper money. I think it’s nasty, right up there with licking a public toilet seat. 🤢

I keep some in my car in case I have to use it, but I don’t use it unless it’s required, ever. There might be more people like me out there so it’s not circulating like it did years ago.

I like the debit card because I keep up with money better than way. I check my accounts a couple of times a day and get alerts if the card is used. For me, the card is safer. LOL

Use cash wherever you can.

Choose small business over national chains.

Goto farmers’ markets. Buy locally sourced food.

Get out of the Big 7:
wells fargo
BOA
jp morgan chase
morgan stanley
citi
amalgamated
goldman sachs

Not here in Alaska. There are a couple of businesses in town that will not accept cards, only cash or checks. And of course, there is a barter economy in meat, fish, furs...etc.

I haven't written a check in years but I still carry a couple of hundred in cash on me for daily transactions. Because of our rather unconventional lifestyle, we keep a few thousand in cash available for emergencies as well.
