A mental health advocate has launched a furious defense for the 6'6" boy, 17, who attacked and knocked a teaching aide unconscious after she took his Nintendo Switch away from him.
Sue Urban - whose 17-year-old son graduated from Matanzas High School before taking his own life - has responded to the incident where a 17-year-old special needs student, who weighs 270 pounds, attacked his teaching aide on Tuesday.
Neither the student nor the teaching aide's names have been released publicly.
'This is not this child's fault. He is not a threat,' Urban said in an emotionally Facebook Live. 'This is a mental health issue. This is a problem with our system, it is broken.
'That post needs to be removed from the Flagler County Sheriff's website immediately.'
Urban, who also has a stepson in the same behavioral wing as the boy in the video, told DailyMail.com this special wing is for 'children that are not in the general population of the high school,' and that her son and the boy were 'school friends,' but in separate classes.
'This is not just a thug,' she told DailyMail.com. 'People need to be educated on children that have ESE [Exceptional Student Education]. They should also be educated on impulsive aggression behavior, and that most times these children do not understand the consequences of the behavior.'
She also told DailyMail.com that the child lived in a group home and his mother did not live in Flagler County, which a faculty member told her at the school board meeting on Wednesday night.
In a Facebook Live, Urban, who became a mental health advocate after her son's death, continued: 'That child has mental health issues. He is just that, a child.'

Suppose there is a male teacher who is 6'4" and 230 lbs. Does this teacher get the honor of instructing ALL of the young scholars with low impulse control and breaking up all the fights? Extra pay for this, of course? But, if he uses force on the out of control young man, he may be arrested and featured on the 6 pm news for being a racist oppressor.

It seems like these feral thugs always try to kick someone who is down in the head. I have noticed the female thugs do that also. It is a wonder the young woman is not brain damaged for life.
Any teacher who is stuck in a room with low impulse control children should find another teaching situation just as soon as humanly possible for their own safety.

I haven't read what mental age/IQ this big baby has. I do know that if my two year old grandson was 6' 6" and weighed 270 pounds, he'd be dangerous, too.

Someone can be brain damaged by a birth accident and otherwise physically normal and you end up with a combination of someone with little or no impulse control in a large overweight and dangerous body. You cannot “teach” someone like this in many cases.
To me this sounds like this is a problem with where the school put him. Placement should have been in place with larger stronger attendants. (It does not sound like Trisonomy.) I will not join with the chorus calling him a Thug, but I will agree that it was terrible for the attendant. Before litigious Democrat attorneys put an end to them, there were state homes for someone like this. (And yes, some of them were riddled with problems which needed correcting.
We made certain that our daughter, who is 38 and has Rett syndrome, and cannot defend herself, was NOT placed in a group home with large and aggressive mentally challenged individuals. Believe me, it is very hard to find these sorts residential group homes with 24 hour a day care.

I went to high skrool with a kid like that. Some of the dirt bags discovered that he would fight their fights for a few dollars worth of drugs. I saw a few people who ended up nearly getting beaten to death. Don didn’t have that filter that said “I’m about to kill this guy, I better stop.” Of course the skrool couldn’t kick him out because he was “special.”

You may have a different image of a hospital for the criminally insane than I do. I see patients like this one chained to a brick wall with a length of chain short enough to keep them from harming themselves or others. For the rest of their natural lives.

I went to Catholic school decades ago. One of the things for parents to sign was an authorization to apply physical discipline if needed.
Funny, although it was authorized, it was very rarely used. Probably because all the kids understood that it COULD be used.
Ghetto moms WANT their kids to be physically aggressive. When mom gets too old to have a ghetto thug boyfriend, she needs a ghetto thug SON to protect her from all the OTHER predators in the neighborhood.
