Former President Donald Trump had been widely discussing with “close associates” ahead of his 2024 presidential campaign bringing back the death penalty, expanding the execution methods used by the federal government, and even broadcasting executions as a means to deter violent crime and drug dealers, Rolling Stone reported on Tuesday, citing multiple sources close to Trump.
Rolling Stone’s Asawin Suebsaeng and Patrick Reis write that Trump has been regularly asking those around him, “What do you think of firing squads?”
The article adds that “Trump has talked about bringing back death by firing squad, by hanging, and, according to two of the sources, possibly even by guillotine. He has also, sources say, discussed group executions. Trump has floated these ideas while discussing planned campaign rhetoric and policy desires, as well as his disdain for President Biden’s approach to crime.”
“He has even, one of the sources recounts, mused about televising footage of executions, including showing condemned prisoners in the final moments of their lives,” noted the article.

Exercise the same tactics used by terrorists and thugs to exact control and justice but do it legally. Yes siree Bob, Donald Trump is the MAN!!
Liberal BS.
Sounds like a plan and the problem is…
"Rolling Stone’s Asawin Suebsaeng and Patrick Reis write that Trump"
The E-chan, I have the same idea about a decade ago free cable channel with televised executions.
I wouldn’t limit it to hangings, and change the job descriptions for executioners. Maybe an ‘Elvira’ type of hostess.
However drop tests might be cool. Or stoning, or oak planks with weights slowly stacked on top. Four clydesdales on ties to each limb, tracyor pulls, keel hauling.
Diversification will keep the audience interest.
Maybe even schedule during suoerbowls and SOTU addresses and compate ratings!
“As a society, we lost a lot when we ended public executions.”
Teachable moments
I don't think hanging was unusual in the 17 and 18 hundreds.. And as far as cruel goes, frying someone in a chair seems crueler then most.. In my opinion anyway..
Give another gun to the tyrants.
There are folks who would have put the non-jabbed in line for this.
That’s insane.
So it’s about executing those that folks disagree with?
Fake news by the media to inflame.
Do you see any documentation in this article?
How about gallows and short ropes?
Exactly. Some people “heard” other people had “heard.”
They are getting desperate.
Firing Squads remain on the shortlist of SCOTUS-approved execution methods. Not my favorite...
I still like the idea of public hangings (which also still is on the list).
The entire point of capital punishment is to make it a deterrent. Quietly putting a person to sleep, then stopping their heart with chemicals in nearly all cases - is like putting your family pet down... and is done at night, with a select set of witnesses.
The reality is - there isn’t much “justice”. The death penalty so rarely gets carried out - and as you said - hiding it away - erases the second biggest value - making it a deterrent.
Bring back public hangings in the public square too!
I LOVE IT!! That has got to be about the BEST idea I have EVER heard on this subject.
Understood. Thank Yu
The guillotine is another alternative since it was especially popular during the French revolution.
