Yeah...I was dubious about that one. And this one;

If you get into the bottom of a well or a tall chimney and look up, you can see stars, even in the middle of the day.

Silver doesn’t rust.

True, but it does oxidize, and only on the surface. It is called “tarnish”, and it’s why your great grandparents had to polish the silverware.

Not at all true. The tongue is not a single muscle. It contains a number of muscles, all attached at both ends.

I will add that English is the only language that has the letter double u-”W”...it’s double “V” in other languages

Clever;)

Many of these are true enough to use as facts in today’s society of mendacity.

FYI, goats (Caprine) and horses (equine) have no gall bladder, yet the Chinese acupuncture charts show a Gall Bladder Meridian for each.

“Decompose” is a biological process that has no meaning with respect to glass. Think of glass as an artificial rock: Rocks don’t “decompose.” They do erode.

The meaning of "decompose" isn't restricted to biological processes. Rocks can indeed decompose via chemical and crystallographic changes, most of which make them more susceptible to mechanical erosion.

Glass is a liquid, not really a solid, though at ordinary temperatures its viscosity is so high that it might as well be solid. Most rocks are made up of crystalline minerals, but there are some natural glasses such as obsidian. Natural glasses tend to crystallize, or devitrify, over enough time, so artificial glass should do the same.

Oh fun!

>> You would expect a taller mountain to be possible on a planet with weaker gravity. Gravity tends to pull massive objects like planets into a spherical shape. <<

I’m thinking you’d expect PROPORTIONALLY taller mountains on planets with weaker gravity. But when the mountain pushes down, it must displace the rest of the crust up, so the greater gravity down by also having to create more force to push displace stuff upwards. But the larger the mountain is IN PROPORTION to the planet, the greater its warping of the elliptical shape of the planet is.

I meant to comment on this, also:

>>The brain also cannot heal itself (although it can copy healthy parts to at least partially take over for the function of damaged parts); neurons do not regenerate. <<

Yeah, I think we’re simply disagreeing on “healing.” I agree about neurons not being able to be REPLACED by its descendent neurons, but on the micro level, there is significant HEALING of that individual neuron that can take place. On the macro level, I would describe such compensation as a form of healing.

The term “skip” as in to skip town, or skip out on bail or skip out on a bill comes from Corrections Department shorthand. Missing prisoners were marked as SKP, escapee.

But with the earth gaining 100 tons/year due to space dust, wouldn’t the increase in mass attraction cancel out the moon’s ‘distancing’?

Clever but highly doubtful. That meaning of “skip” is probably about as old as the word itself.

Gold does dissolve in water, the universal solvent.

Recent developments in technology have been able to detect the very small amounts of gold in water samples. That is one of the technologies being used to home in on the gold treasure deposited on Oak Island.

The letter J does not appear anywhere on the periodic table of the elements.

It's being saved for the new elements waiting to be discovered on other planets and in interstellar space.

Titanium won’t rust either. Gold isn’t the only metal that won’t rust.

Only ferrous based materials rust because we call the oxidized product rust. Many metals oxidize or react chemically to environmental influences but don't "rust".

No. Zero defines a starting point, where nothing temporal exists.

In the beginning . . .”

Not “at”
