'Good luck staying in business!' New Jersey restaurant sparks FURIOUS debate after BANNING children under the age of 10... so, do YOU agree?

A New Jersey restaurant has sparked furious debate after revealing it was banning children under the age of 10 from dining in.

Italian restaurant Nettie's, located in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, caused a stir on social media after making the announcement.

In a Facebook post, a staff member said the ban would begin March 8, claiming its decision was due to rowdy children causing safety issues during peak dining times.

The new policy comes after another woman called for 'adults only' suburbs to have 'peace and quiet' without any disturbances from children.

Despite the growing calls for more strict no-kids rules to be enacted, the restaurant's announcement has come under fierce criticism from many parents, triggering heated discussion about the controversial policy.

'It's been extremely challenging to accommodate children at Nettie's. Between noise levels, lack of space for high chairs, cleaning up crazy messes, and the liability of kids running around the restaurant, we have decided that it’s time to take control of the situation,' the post read.

'This wasn't a decision that was made lightly, but some recent events have pushed us to implement this new policy. As of March 8, the day we return from our winter break, we will no longer allow children under 10 to dine in the restaurant.

New tagline for Nettie’s.....”we ain’t Chuck E. Cheese”. Sounds like the restaurant is putting some of it’s patrons on notice. “You didn’t curb your kids so, No soup for you!”

On one hand, I expect kids to be loud and rowdy cause they’re kids.

Nope. They are loud and rowdy because their parents have not taught the to respect others. Not just restaurants. If I had acted out in public and embarassed my parents there would have been hell to pay. So I learned respect for others.

I’ll happily go to a restaurant any time there aren’t any children behaving like kids (baby goats) or any kind of feral or rabid animal.

Why would I pay money to go out to a restaurant where I hear or see screaming, whining, yelling, boisterous, vomiting little ones who are out of control?

That’s why you have places like McDonalds, upChuck E. Cheese, and similar such places.

With the local presstitutes giving this restaurant free advertising all I can see is a better bottom line for their restaurant.

Waiting for the posters who say that it’s a private business and they can ban kids if they want to. Because it is, and they can.

I’d be more likely to frequent a restaurant knowing there’d be no brats there.

What’s up with parents now who are terrified of their kids and won’t discipline them? The kids rule the homes. If we had acted the way kids do now we’d have been sent to the middle of next week in a heartbeat. We might have acted out in a restaurant — ONCE.

It’s been said that some people use their children as weapons.

“The restaurant could implement a cash deposit system for children...”

Hey, that’s a really good idea. Enter the restaurant and charge $25 for each kid going in. Collect the deposit on the way out if the kids behave. Get the parents in their pocketbooks and maybe they’ll pay attention.

i absolutely would go to this restaurant.
Love kids but not every space needs children- adults should be able to go out and enjoy.

It was right!

I have a pretty good stink eye for kids when they’re being obnoxious — even as young as ones sitting in grocery carts. I try to do it when the parents aren’t looking, and the screaming stops on a dime, literally mid-scream. They know what they’re doing is wrong.

My stink eye is based upon: “They have to believe you can and will kill them.”

Line from some TV show or movie from years ago. Works well for me.

The fact that most of the little brats today “Look like America” will get the restaurant strung up Civil Rights charges.

Honestly I’d rather a.restaurant be open about not wanting children as customers rather than the shadow banning they do.

There is a place by me who doesn’t openly ban small children but it’s abundantly clear they don’t want them there. Every high chair in thr place is broken, don’t have a kids menu etc etc etc.

I would have rather known up front the owners attitude than try to make a meal work there and find out the hard way and never go back.

I am sure, depending. In where the restaurant is located it will do fine not allowing kids in… there are plenty of DINK couples who will happily flock to it if it’s near an big enough city

Oh I have no problem telling kids to behave, I’d expect someone to do it to my kids if they weren’t.

Learned that why being a cub master to my oldest.

Used to worry about correcting other people’s kids, after having to keep 40 to 50 of them in line on a regular basis I lost that worry. I am not out looking to be Barney Fife and nip every little thing in the bud I see a kid do, but when it’s clear their behavior is out of line or risky you better believe I’ll tell the kid so.

Hell, just a look it all it takes often.

When I took my children to a restaurant, it was a privilege to them. They almost always behaved spectacularly well. The few times they didn't, my wife and I had no problem bundling them into the car and taking them home, even if it was before the meal came. They quickly learned.

The way many parents let their children act up in restaurants - and in any public place for that matter - astounds me. The behavior of children is a reflection on the parents.

It is their restaurant. If people don’t like it they can eat elsewhere.

I feel the same about bakeries who won’t bake wedding cakes for gays. The customer can have their wedding cake baked where someone does make gay wedding cakes.

I have been in restaurants where people allow their kids to run around and be totally obnoxious . Nobody wants their dinner ruined.

Wife and I were out to dinner when our oldest was only 3 many years ago. She started screaming. I got up, picked her up and went outside. Came back about 10 minutes later without her and we enjoyed our meal.

Not sure what folks thought... I had droped her off at my mother-in-laws house about a block away.

What’s worse now is people and their dogs in restaurants, long leashes walking and sniffing freely and barking.

Why get furious? Patronize the place or don’t. There are a bazillion restaurants in this world.
