That clip was historically and logically weird.

1. “Slaves built this country” - err. no - Slavery has actually held BACK countries. Before the civil war, the South’s economy was limited and productivity could only increase so much with slaves. The Northerners were forced to look for productivity increases through innovation etc.

2. “Cotton, etc.” - cotton isn’t what made America great. The greatness came with its innovativeness, with giving people to build and to fail

3. “reparations” — Reparations lost meaning after the first generation. There are too many black people who have partial descent from slave-owners (either forcibly or say a black person marries a white person in the 1980s). There are too many black people who aren’t descended from slaves (think Obama) and too many white people who have descent from slaves and too many white people whose ancestors came after the 1850s and had no part in slavery.

This is as much a stinker historically as the Mormon “history” or “braveheart”
