I was in the hospital for ten days after quadruple bypass.
One day my wife visited and I said, "Don't touch me" because I was in such pain. On checking, the nursed discovered that they had neglected to give me my morphine dose earlier in the day.
Apparently they then doubled up the dosage. As a result I had hallucinations in the middle of the night. I also became paranoid and refused to cooperate until they summoned my wife. This was at about 3:30 in the morning.
It took a long, long time for the emotional turmoil from just thinking about that time subsided.
Jim, I can't imagine having recurring nightmares of the nature you describe. Get well.
On a related topic, you might want to spend some of your time figuring out what key processes you are performing so that someone else could do them.
I had a neighbor once who prevailed upon me to conduct his software business for one or two weeks. In preparation I made extremely detailed notes. The neighbor thanked me profusely some months later because my notes were so detailed that he was able to train his wife to run the business in his absence.
