Butter is a food group. Everything we put it on is a delivery system. But I well remember “Oleo” from the war/rationing years. First it was yellow but somebody was chiseling so then the color came in a little yellow packet. My job was to stir in the color so it looked like butter. But after a few stirringfests everybody agreed the color was useless-—so they let me quit mixing and I chucked the yellow packs. Haven’t had Oleo since maybe 1946.
