A Vanderbilt math professor criticized the subject for being too "white" and "cisheteropatriarchal" in a lecture he presented at a major mathematician conference earlier this month.
Luis Leyva, an assistant professor of mathematics at Vanderbilt Peabody College of Education and Human Development in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Joint Mathematics Meeting on January 4 delivered a lecture titled "Undergraduate Mathematics Education as a White, Cisheteropatriarchal Space and Opportunities for Structural Disruption to Advance Queer of Color Justice."

It didn't take you or I very long to figure out that he wasn't a math professor. The writer of this piece should feel shame for missing that fact.
In some ways influencing the next generation of teachers is worse than being an embarrassment to a math department.

Never said I was offended. I just wondered why he asked his question in the manner that he did. It’s a well known fact that there have been women, blacks, and even non heterosexuals that have excelled in math. Thus, none of those traits are responsible for holding an individual back when it comes to math excellence. In other words, I was just stating a truth, that countered what this professor has claimed. In fact, my gaydar goes off looking at this professor, so he should know first-hand that his statement is nothing but BS. 🙂
Mess with his paycheck. Tell him if there are any errors that “maths be hard.”
