I heard long ago that credit card companies will eventually drop customers who always pay the monthly balance off in full, because the CC companies aren’t making any money in interest from those people. Every year or two, I’ll leave about $100 balance owing, then use the card very little during the following month so that I only pay a few dollars total in interest.
I don’t know if it makes any difference, but they haven’t dropped me yet.
I've paid in full for three decades. Not dropped yet.
They still make money on people that pay off. Just not from you. The business pays for the privilege of being able to process a particular credit card. And they also pay a percentage of the transaction to the credit card company. They PREFER people who let a balance roll and pay interest, often rewarding them with a higher limit more often than others. But they get paid coming and going, they’re not worried about a few people who avoid interest.
