Historic redlining and other racist policies have led to present-day racial and economic segregation and disinvestment in many cities across the United States. Research has shown how neighborhood characteristics and resources are associated with health disparities such as preterm birth and asthma, but most of these studies are limited in scale and overlook many aspects in a neighborhood that are difficult to measure, including dilapidated buildings and crosswalks.
Now, a new study led by Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) and the Center for Antiracist Research (CAR) at Boston University (BU) has utilized panorama digital technology through Google Street View (GSV) to identify these neighborhood characteristics on a national scale and shed light on how they contribute to racial and ethnic disparities in local resources and health outcomes across the US.
Published in the journal JAMA Network Open, the study found that predominantly White neighborhoods had better neighborhood conditions generally associated with good health, such as fewer neglected buildings and multi-family homes, and more greenery than neighborhoods with residents who were primarily Black, of other minority races, or of a variety of races and ethnicities.

If group X sometimes cannot have nice things, not their fault they riot and loot in their own neighborhoods after all, then nobody can have nice things.
Which is kinda Cory Booker’s justification for going after gas appliances: poor people may not have nice gas stoves so no one should.
They are going to need 5 million dollars and debt forgiveness to greenify the neighborhoods.
It’s because that “white neighborhoods” spend time keeping up their own properties and surroundings, instead of waiting for the government to do it for them.
Maybe Obozo could have left the park and built his “library” in a neighborhood where all the houses are already gone?
Enough with this fake nonsense masquerading as scholarship.
Why do Democrats do this to Blacks?
Isn’t NJ one of the highest percentage of nat gas appliance users? I think a lot of poor people have them because a nat gas stove lasts nearly forever.
Stewardship is racist?
My suspect this a political study designed to produce the desired outcome. I have a suggestion for a new long term study. Compare the level of upkeep, greenery, and dilapidated buildings over a 25 year time period. See if the deterioration or improvement in appearance can be associated with changes in the ratio of whites to minorities in that neighborhood over time.
It’s like saying the sewage system is not as nice as the outdoors.
Wherever their are democrat zombie cannibals, you will find urban blight, crime, graffiti and health disparities such as preterm birth and asthma.
We have large green areas in our housing areas because they make good free fire zones.
Low income people concentrated in low cost, dilapidated neighborhoods, which were redlined because of the potential for falling home values.
Somehow every big city has a Chinatown, and miraculously the Chinese-Americans managed to lift themselves up. Most places, Chinatown is now a tourist attraction...
I live in an upscale HOA with 4 pools, walking trails, parks, playgrounds, etc.
I didn’t magically appear here. I worked hard for my family to get us here.
My neighbors to the left are black. My neighbors to the right are Hispanic. This street has lots of different colors on it. The high school, which is majority minority, is ranked in the top 10% nationwide.
My neighbor, Scott, (who happens to be black) and I were chatting about the lawn damage from the most recent winter freeze when a car rolled slowly by with the stereo blasting rap. We both watched silently until they moved on down the street.
Scott turned to me and muttered, “There goes the neighborhood,” before moving his new Shelby into the garage. He hasn’t left it in the driveway since.
Color has nothing to do with it.
Attitude does.
An uncomfortable question:
Name one area/city/place/neighborhood where blacks have moved into in any number that has become more prosperous, less crime-ridden, and cleaner. Name.Just.One.
I’ll wait.....
Residents that don’t take responsibility for their surroundings or themselves.
In the late sixties, a new two story apartment building was built in the downtown Miami area that was mostly black people. Within two months the building was trashed, garbage and old sofa’s in the parking lot. The building had broken doors and windows. What a mess!
History shows us that the lesser of those populations will simply take the better land.
Little Rhodesia, if you will.
Probably has something to do with welfare and having to live in tenements or government low-income apartments.
Blacks also have more crime, more high school drop outs, more fatherless children and more gangs. These are the inequities that should first be addressed.
