Can The House can defund the IRS without needing any cooperation from The Senate? I sure hope so.

I agree that Congress can defund the IRS. The 16th doesn’t COMPEL Congress to tax incomes.
I’m guessing the Fair Tax could be covered under Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 as an Excise tax? Seems that’s what they are calling the taxes on fuel, tobacco, etc.
My opinion is that defunding of the IRS would have to be followed immediately by a repeal of the 16th Amendment before passing the Fair Tax. Otherwise, the next democrat congress will re-fund the IRS and we’d be stuck with both income and sales tax.
I would have to be against just defunding the IRS and implementing a Fair Tax without the repeal in the middle.
Hmmm. There is a lot of trust involved of people who are untrustworthy, to make this happen correctly. I am not holding my breath.
As to IRS drones working for free, there are probably a few in there who would work for free for the sheer enjoyment of putting their jackboots on someone’s neck.
