I have to admit, I am not very good at recognizing people, out of context. Sounds like you have had some great interactions.
One of my favorite interactions happened way back in the '70's . I went to the market, came out to a dead battery. Guy was loading groceries into his car.
"Excuse me, you would not happen to have a pair of jumper cables would you?
He did and we soon had my car started. He was loading his cables back into his car, when it dawned on me who he was.
"You're Bill Dana Aren't you? (p> "No, I think you confused me with someone else. My name is Jose Jimenez."
He winked as he said that and bid me a good day. The "jose Jimenez" line was a signature routine for him and you need to be as old as me to catch the joke.

Met William Christopher years ago on a flight out of L.A. He was astonished when I addressed him by his real name. He told me that when people run into him anywhere, it’s: “You’re Father Mulcahy!”
I remember Jose Jimenez, though I was a kid when Dana was doing that. Imagine the screeching if he were to record those routines today.
