They have the power to further destroy the country, 20 people are trying to tap the brakes.

It’s about the country, not a party and especially when that party mostly doesn’t represent our interests much better than a democrats.

Trump probably feels like McCarthy is going to be speaker and he doesn’t want to have yet another enemy. I understand that perspective, can’t fight everyone all at once but I don’t think he understands, any longer, that the people don’t just hate Democrats, the Repukes are just as hated. He didn’t become President because he had any insider support, he had none and that worked imnhis favor. He may now have a new way of thinking. I was able to become President but I wasn’t able to pass the laws I wanted. He can do more good not passing the laws and pushing for good laws than he’ll get with compromising at this point.

Republican prez gave us: mail in ballots...elections are run by the states, momincombatboots....not the President.

20/20 Hindsight is super easy for you. You weren’t the one being bashed for not being a doctor, not listening to the science, being lied to by Birx and Fauci and when you brought up other options-completely lambasted in the press and elsewhere, being impeached, trying to get the economy going again and running for re-election.

"... conservatives who claim to be part of the fight."

I've seen reports suggesting a vast majority of conservatives support the 20.

It is a sad reality that some of the R folks we've grown to love, in general, are so wrong and weak on this directional stare-down specifically.

And, it is simply a stare-down, there has been no chaos here.

Yep, they were neutered before the new members even got to DC.

"...nonsensical hyperbole."

Agreed.

People afraid of conflict are not people who will drain anything beyond my wallet and yours.

Power does not come from compromise.

What’s happening now matters more than the BS we’ll see in the next six months if we don’t do this process.

"Power does not come from compromise."

Definitely no power for individuals nor protection for Freedom. Though it does consolidate power into tyrannical hands.

A desire to compromise is an indication of the need to de-centralize.

I agree. Slowly we learn from ‘those’ we were sure we trusted.

I’m good with this situation even if it lasts four years or so.

Nothing coming out of the House and legislative gridlock is an extremely positive development. It vastly superior to Congress running up more debt, laundering money through Ukraine, funding the FBI or spending money facilitating illegal immigration.

MTG built her reputation on bringing us the hard, unvarnished, truth.

To now tell us that the Pelosi rules should remain in place, and that an obvious swamp critter must be rushed through as Speaker, etc, indicates she may now be more about clouding the truth, than delivering it.

—————————————————————————————‘Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I’ll show you a crook!’ Harry S Truman: Add female to this

Maybe, if we do not have a speaker for two years:

No debt limit increases
No money for the Ukes/Deep State
No money for any green new deals
No money for new and old illegals

So, why should we fret/worry/care if the members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in:

Then, no midnight spending deals and no secret deals with Biden’s Deep State Puppet Masters!

If Members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in, the House can’t set rules to govern itself, and it can’t Why should we care if: No spending and no deals with Biden!

The House is in limbo until it elects a speaker.

Members of the 118th Congress can’t be sworn in, the House can’t set rules to govern itself, and it can’t consider legislation or create committee assignments.

That really sounds like good news to many of us.

House Republicans have pledged to unleash a slew of investigations, including some targeting President Biden — all of which would be on pause until a speaker is elected.

What to watch: House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy’s speakership bid failed a fourth and fifth time on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the California Republican said: “I don’t have a problem getting a record for the most votes for speaker.”

Flashback: It took two months — and 133 ballots — for the House to elect its speaker in 1856.

The last time the House has needed more than one ballot to confirm a speaker was 1923.

https://www.axios.com/2023/01/03/house-speaker-election-congress-mccarthy-1856

The longest House speaker election in history spanned two months and took 133 ballots — providing a warning sign for the 118th Congress.consider legislation or create committee assignments.

As taxpayers and not members of Congress, we win everyday without a speaker and congress!

She’s compromised. I think there’s something going on between her and McCarthy.

"I guess MTG has been offered something."

She already admitted that McCarthy promised to give her, her committee assignments back. Remember, they were previously taken away from her.

McCarthy is the problem. He’s a rino and back stabber. Why do you think those 20 Conservatives are holding his feet to the fire? There should be 200 more joining him, but they’re sellouts to the GOPe.
