Is this McCarthy Situation Real or a Strategic Play by the Republicans and/or Trump?

Maybe one of the below reasons is why this is strategic...or not. What do you think?

1. Trump knows something we don’t.

2. Trump wants to be able to keep his stronghold on the Republican party and thinks this is the way to do it.

3. Trump realizes that McCarthy is the best chance of getting something in the GOP agenda accomplished. Trump made agenda deals with McCarthy.

4. Reverse psychology? A smoke screen. A bait and switch to keep the RINOS and/or Dems on their toes.

5. Trump's not really endorsing McCarthy but spotlighting him as a criminal. Maybe Trump endorsed the people he did to bring attention to them. This is a way to drain the swamp.

6. Trump knows McCarthy is the only one capable of getting the votes.

7. McCarthy is the lesser of the evils in the swamp.

8. Trump is “playing the game", just like Jordan, who voted for McCarthy on the first and second rounds of voting.

9. McCarthy pledged to help Trump get rid of the Republicans that went against him.

10.Party unity.

11. Trump wants key Republicans to keep their committee positions.

12. McCarthy is likeable, a team player, and will get things done.

13. Trump stands by his choice. It’s loyalty.

14. It's optics so that Trump can't be blamed for whatever transpires.

15. Trump told McCarthy, "I will endorse you if you don’t get in my way running for President."

16. When Jim Jordan said no thanks, that narrowed the field considerably.

17. Only McCarthy wants the job.

18. Trump wants a Republican as speaker.

19. GOPe doesn't want Kevin.

It is, in my opinion, a big mistake to assign too much intelligence to politicians. Not to say their designs may cause colossal mayhem and damage.
In most cases, they are flying by the seat of their pants, or directed by higher powers.

And, this shows us the power of a third party...
You don’t need the majority to control the house...
You just need 20 seats...

A very good question. My view of McCarthy is that he is at best a weakling swamp thing. He has never shown any past inclination to resist the progressive tyranny we have slipped into. He is showing none now. He seems a bookend for McConnell. His statement that the Republicans number one priority is defending IRS agents was the icing on that cake. He will do nothing to upset the elites’ apple cart.

So naturally, I’d like to think we are seeing 20 clear-eyed patriots doing what they can do to save the Republic. But we have been fooled and played so often, in the back of my mind the question arises, could this be more kayfabe for the rubes?

The numbers are right for these 20 to be the few remaining Amercican patriots, who are willing to contest with the swamp giants for a return to Constitutional America. I’m fairly confident we are seeing a real fight by real patriots.

McCarthy is in Trump’s good graces. He has spent a lot of time flattering and “consulting” with Trump over the past two years. Unlike McConnell, he largely played along with Trump in the 2022 elections - not actively opposing Trump’s favorites, and doing nothing to defend Cheney, Kinzinger, etc. from being primaried / forced to retire.

Trump is incurious about, and thefore isn’t animated by, the specific governance issues that the dissidents are highlighting.

MTG and other House members Trump particularly likes are supporting McCarthy.

Remember what Trump does - makes a lot of noise about rebellion, but always chooses the establishment in the end.

Trump was never the three dimensional chess player that many thought he was. That said, he does have some shrewdness and probably realized that the alternatives to McCarthy couldn’t get enough votes. His mistake was thinking that McCarthy could.

And yet, Trump’s picks for SCOTUS OVERTURNED ROE V WADE - something that everyone said was impossible for decades.

In all honestly if McCArthy can’t manage to get the votes he needs to be speaker it certainly calls into question how effective he’s going to be to get the votes to pass other important things?

Well said. What’s becoming obvious to me is, there are still way too many UNIPARTY/GOPe/RINO/ChamberOfCommerce types in the House. Either by being newly elected or getting re-elected.

20 or so Representatives are standing up to the Status Quo. Isn’t that what they’re supposed to do.

Aren’t they supposed to challenge leadership and represent their constituents, instead of NOT reading bills and just voting for whatever their party leadership tells them to.

I’m wondering how much peoples lives have been effected by that is going on. There has been no effect.

How many folks have been bitching about the 20, but at the same time say we need some change, term limits, more control, more opposition to the Democrats. As if, McCarthy, Scalise and about 200 others would do nothing of the sort.

With the omnibus passing, they don’t have much to do. What has McCarthy said about Jan6 committee and all that information? What has he said about all the folks rotting in the DC jail on misdemeanor charges? What has he said about Hunter, et al?

How many folks on here found it odd or were genuinely mad upon finding out that McCarthy was, more or less, in bed with Luntz?

But, now all of a sudden he’s seen the light. He met and talked with Pres Trump and all is good. He’ll do a great job. He’s the man. He’s nothing but a protege of Ryan, Boehner, Cantor and all the rest.

If Trump wants influence in the House, let him follow John Quincy Adams and win a seat.

“Governance”? Lol. Spoken like a Mitch.

We may as well restore regular order and force your buds in the GOPe and Dems to reveal themselves. Best way to get them voted out in 2024.

It does make you wonder if it’s just bad luck, bad choices, or deliberate.

Exactly. That’s all they care about. They have ZERO desire to talk to you or anyone else. Walk around the district come election time, say all the “right” things, some pictures, maybe a few townhalls. Get to DC and forget any of you even exist.

And, sadly, the same folks keep getting sent back. I’ve voted, reflexively, for the Republican. I don’t anymore, though.

I don’t know any of the 20 or 21 that are standing up to McCarthy and the Swamp, which is what this is really all about. They could all be full of poop. But, right now they’re saying the right things. They’re doing the right things, IMHO.

Everyone, since 2016ish, has said they want fighters in DC. Folks that will fight for their constituents and the folks back home.

Stand up to the Establishment/UNIPARTY....Isn’t that what these 20 or 21 are doing? Standing up to the Status Quo that has gotten us into this mess.

Isn’t this country founded on Individual Rights and, if so, being the one person standing in the gap? Not anymore, it would appear.

I like President Trump and believe he has been a noble and dedicated fighter for the success of America in the face of unprecedented opposition. However, I don't believe that he has any sort of superior knowledge or long-term political strategies. As I see it, he has underestimated the depth and deviousness of the political world time and time again. And many of us didn't know the extent of the grip the Deep State has on our country until they were exposed by the Trump presidency.

And, we are probably still learning that far too many of those enemies of freedom and American greatness are residing in the Republican party. We have been lulled into a false sense of security because they seem to say the right things when the cameras are on, or they're in front of a group of true patriots. But in the long run, I think that there are very few in Congress, in either party, who are truly trying to make America great again. I think we should let these 20 representatives do what they feel they need to do.

“there is no one else, other than Dem Jefferies that can get 200 votes”

Nonsense. If McCarthy were to endorse a compromise candidate, then that person could easily get over 200 votes. But he won’t, because he only cares about holding on to that power for himself.

Do tell, what was he supposed to do?

If he couldn't get it done while occupying the Oval Office then what now? After the debacle of 2020, he could have actually exercised a strategy to remain viable but instead invalidated himself and in the process fractured the GOP. We are nothing but an "in/cancelled" Trump club and has left the GOP pretty much impotent. That even carries over to here on FR where things likely will never return to normal.
