Maybe one of the below reasons is why this is strategic...or not. What do you think?
1. Trump knows something we don’t.
2. Trump wants to be able to keep his stronghold on the Republican party and thinks this is the way to do it.
3. Trump realizes that McCarthy is the best chance of getting something in the GOP agenda accomplished. Trump made agenda deals with McCarthy.
4. Reverse psychology? A smoke screen. A bait and switch to keep the RINOS and/or Dems on their toes.
5. Trump's not really endorsing McCarthy but spotlighting him as a criminal. Maybe Trump endorsed the people he did to bring attention to them. This is a way to drain the swamp.
6. Trump knows McCarthy is the only one capable of getting the votes.
7. McCarthy is the lesser of the evils in the swamp.
8. Trump is “playing the game", just like Jordan, who voted for McCarthy on the first and second rounds of voting.
9. McCarthy pledged to help Trump get rid of the Republicans that went against him.
10.Party unity.
11. Trump wants key Republicans to keep their committee positions.
12. McCarthy is likeable, a team player, and will get things done.
13. Trump stands by his choice. It’s loyalty.
14. It's optics so that Trump can't be blamed for whatever transpires.
15. Trump told McCarthy, "I will endorse you if you don’t get in my way running for President."
16. When Jim Jordan said no thanks, that narrowed the field considerably.
17. Only McCarthy wants the job.
18. Trump wants a Republican as speaker.
19. GOPe doesn't want Kevin.
No. And really a former president really should stay out of internal workings of the house.
Trump wants McCarthy because it’s all about Trump.

Going with 17 because there is no one else, other than Dem Jefferies that can get 200 votes, and because the minority is holding the majority hostage - very bad optics showing that these 20 are more interested in anything other than governance.

Not sure what any of that has to do with his ego.
So if anything, this might be something to fundraise off of and that is about it for Trump's part, otherwise we need to take the state of things at face value and that is that Trump is irrelevant in this drama.
And yes, I reached Trump saturation with the no strategy blow a hole in the bottom of the tank performance just after the 2020 election. He hasn't patched it yet IMHO.
Hopefully, the insurgents are trying to get the best deal they can for MAGA without risking a Democrat or a consensus speaker.

Good take. A non politician had to be removed as he exposed the corruption that is our current government.
He didn’t and doesn’t need the headaches of the office but still stands for us in his desire to return
IMO Trump sees that it is probably better to have McCarthy with the current concessions than someone else without the concessions which would be the alternative.
Trump does not have much of a record regarding personnel. He just doesn’t. His cabinet and WH staffing were in swinging door — in one day, out the next.
If McCarthy is the hill he wants to die on, he seems to be doing a bang-up job. His support of McCarthy has not gained him nor McCarthy much. He may even be losing supporters.
Strategy? 3-D chess? Sorry, I don’t think so.
And WEF wants McCarthy because it’s all about WEF.
It is hysterical that you call what we have GOVERNANCE, LOL, LOL the longer they can’t do anything the better!! These 20 are showing courage and not folding like lawn chairs!!!
