Maybe one of the below reasons is why this is strategic...or not. What do you think?
1. Trump knows something we don’t.
2. Trump wants to be able to keep his stronghold on the Republican party and thinks this is the way to do it.
3. Trump realizes that McCarthy is the best chance of getting something in the GOP agenda accomplished. Trump made agenda deals with McCarthy.
4. Reverse psychology? A smoke screen. A bait and switch to keep the RINOS and/or Dems on their toes.
5. Trump's not really endorsing McCarthy but spotlighting him as a criminal. Maybe Trump endorsed the people he did to bring attention to them. This is a way to drain the swamp.
6. Trump knows McCarthy is the only one capable of getting the votes.
7. McCarthy is the lesser of the evils in the swamp.
8. Trump is “playing the game", just like Jordan, who voted for McCarthy on the first and second rounds of voting.
9. McCarthy pledged to help Trump get rid of the Republicans that went against him.
10.Party unity.
11. Trump wants key Republicans to keep their committee positions.
12. McCarthy is likeable, a team player, and will get things done.
13. Trump stands by his choice. It’s loyalty.
14. It's optics so that Trump can't be blamed for whatever transpires.
15. Trump told McCarthy, "I will endorse you if you don’t get in my way running for President."
16. When Jim Jordan said no thanks, that narrowed the field considerably.
17. Only McCarthy wants the job.
18. Trump wants a Republican as speaker.
19. GOPe doesn't want Kevin.
>Trump does not have much of a record regarding personnel.
Arguably much of that is because most of his personnel had to be approved by the Senate, by which I mean McConnell. It doesn’t get any swampier than that.
If I fault Trump, it would have to be because I don’t think he realized just how deep and wide the swamp ran.
No, this really has nothing to do with Trump. If anything, it is proving how past his due date Trump is.
Well...Trump has a habit of picking the ABSOLUTE WORST candidate for every political office. If he did that with his business, the buildings would’ve never gotten built or collapsed by now...so somethings going on here. I like Trump, but as a rule of thumb, pick the opposite of his choice for a govvie position!
Impatience. It is really about our 24-hour newscycle and impatience of everyone to let politics play out. Some things take time.
Trump’s, Pence’s or anyone else endorsement has no bearing on what these folks are going to do.
Reality is this isn’t uncharted territory and it’s not the end of the world.
In all honestly if McCArthy can’t manage to get the votes he needs to be speaker it certainly calls into question how effective he’s going to be to get the votes to pass other important things?
As far as I see it this is a test of MCCarthy’s abilities… we will see how they turn out…
But if you think average voter is siting at home wringing their hands because a speaker have been chosen, you would be wrong
20. Trump is a clueless dumb-a$$ when it comes to who he endorses/appoints. Sessions, Wray, and Barr to name a few. He NEVER learns. He is still endorsing back-stabbing swamp creatures.
Imma go with #5. I think Trump wants Kevin in the spotlight so he can reveal himself to the public.
Stolen elections have consequences.
He’d be in the White House today had they not stolen an election.
So, Trump is very involved.
It’s better this than him posting the Declaration of Independence.
Everyone, including me, has inferred Trump is some sort of master strategist which he is not.
That is an interesting theory. I already learned more about McCarthy. Maybe it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy or something.
Doubt it. I’ve come to the realization that it’s only the Dems playing 4D chess.
McCarthy is just a younger turtle, without the Chinese spy for a wife..
Trump was a VERY successful President and TDS-ers can’t take that away from him.
I’ve don’t remember ever seeing any “Trump 4D Chess” actually working out, other than maybe when Trump surprised people by actually doing/meaning what he said.
What I like(d) about Trump was his no nonsense plain speaking and America first.
If I wanted underhanded secret deals, saying one thing and meaning another, or saying what I wanted to hear, I would just stick with the swampy GOPe RINOs.
All I want is leaders who say what they mean, mean what they say, and do what they said they would do.
Trump wants to be a kingmaker and retain control over the GOP but his continued losing streak has empowered even MAGA Republicans to go against him.
“His support of McCarthy has not gained him nor McCarthy much. He may even be losing supporters.”

I could not agree more with this comment.
McCarthy is a disgusting status quo swamp creature.
So, 20 people standing up to the definition of the UNIPARTY SWAMP and exposing the other 200+/- as other members of that same SWAMP are holding folks hostage?
Out of curiosity, do you have a Republican in the House representing you? If so, have you received anything from their office, asking for your opinion on the matter? Has your rep held any kind of townhall to talk to you and the rest of the constituents to get any input?
:)
The New Yorker...really?
I reached Trump saturation with the no strategy blow a hole in the bottom of the tank performance just after the 2020 election.
What exactly was he supposed to do either, just after the 2020 election or leading up to it?
Amazing how so many folks love to Monday Morning QB the man, now that we’re all finding things out, ie The LIES, that were being spread about Covid, in order to ruin his chances of re-election. Birx admitted that they were lying to him and making things up.
Toss in all the voting stuff stuff.
Do tell, what was he supposed to do?
