MONROE, La. (KNOE/Gray News) - Police arrested a clerk at a Louisiana Dollar General and charged him with manslaughter after they said he shot at an armed robber.
The Monroe Police Department said officers responded to the Dollar General store Monday for a shooting.
An armed robbery reportedly took place, and the store clerk shot at the suspect. KNOE reports the suspect and another customer were shot

Take it to a jury!
At first listen, it seems dumb or illogical to arrest the clerk who had been fired upon by the robber, but seeing as a customer was also hit, the police may chose to round up both men for now, until it is known exactly who shot the innocent bystander. That’s the only way it makes sense to me.
Six prior robberies. Give the clerk the key to the city.
This robber wont roam the earth anymore.
Hopefully the store clerk should be given a break

Based on the story, I wonder if the criminal charge relates to the fact the clerk left the scene without summoning medical help for the perp. The clerk says he didn’t know he shot the perp, but police found the perp outside the store and still alive. The perp later died.
I’m guessing the police are saying that the perp could have survived if the clerk had called for help in a timely manner. Instead, the clerk locked the store and left the premises.
That is most likely the reason. Lack of clarity.
It could be that the clerk was still shaken up and not thinking clearly when he drove off, simply thankful to have survived that expected shoot out. This doesn’t excuse not following the correct steps, but may help explain his state of mind.

There are videos where the police let someone bleed for 15+ minutes before they render aid. Clerk just has to say I feared the perp had another gun.
Sometimes, the police perform a public service just allowing nature to take it’s course.

Cops have protocols they have to follow but I can attest to the fact that some cops are some of the dumbest people on Earth.
Cops did that to one of 2 guys shot during that bank robbery in CA where they wore armor. They let him bleed out
Seeing the outcome, one dead nogoodnik, I think the clerk should get some kind of prize.
Considering the excuses they make for criminal’s behavior to get them off the hook for crimes they committed, it would be great if they gave the same courtesy to the victims of the criminal’s acts when they defend themselves.
Monroe County, always corrupt as Hell and will never change.
