McCarthy planned on using the pursestrings as leverage to get border concessions and others, but lost his leverage when the Senate passed the omnibus bill.

From colleague Kelly Phares: Rep-elect Byron Donalds (R-FL) announced his vote for Jim Jordan on the third ballot of the Speaker vote.
Donalds had voted for McCarthy on the first two ballots.
I quit watching for awhile. My son is watching and just texted about the circus.
