Can anyone who is a parent imagine being 70 years old, and still with dependents around you? I do it in a small way, as I have 15 grands, but 6 of them are in the 19-24 range. 9 range from 14 to 1. I am happy for 2 days max around the little ones, then it is COME GET THEM please????

“I’d prefer my child to have a great father and male role model, which is why I held off.”
You were too picky and you waited until your best years were well behind you. A man looking to start a family is not going to go for a 37 year old woman. 27 yes. 37 No.

Well....my parents were 41 when I was born (the last of 6).
They always said I kept them young.

This notion that women can’t get pregnant in their 40’s is nonsense.
Many generations of women have had babies in their 40’s.
Many of my family members and friends were born to mothers in their mid-40’s.
Many women I knew in my generation also gave birth in their mid- to late 40’s, but NOT with IVF. They had surprise pregnancies.
Usually, couples try to avoid pregnancy in those years, but not because pregnancy isn’t possible.
The only couples I’ve ever known who had trouble conceiving were having trouble in their 20’s.

Of course that is correct, but it gets considerably harder. There are fertility drugs that can help (e.g. clomed). But, for those who aren't open to a special needs child the odds of a Downs Baby goes up considerably after 40.
In my personal experience (I am not a medical doctor), most of the women I've known whom have had children in their forties are the ones who have already had several other children already.
