The amish (real amish) are ahead of their time.
I’ve been seeing them everyday over in Lancaster County (PA), for decades, and except for the occasional (awful for the horse) accident, they’re doing just fine.
Nothing wrong with most of the rear-drive setups except for winter traction. Some of the front drives aren’t real great in that area either. Very few inline engine setups in cheap rear drives & the transverse engines create their own service headaches. AWD is good except rather complicated, expensive, & has it’s own unique service headaches. The auto industry seems perfectly satisfied with not necessarily building what is practical or what the public wants. As an example: the latest electrics.
Probably we all should have followed their life path. We’d be so much better off in every segment of society.
