NEW ORLEANS — The man who killed two bicyclists after the Endymion parade in 2019 while driving drunk has had his prison sentence reduced.
Tashonty Toney was serving 90 years in jail, the maximum allowed under law.
However, court records show that Judge Laurie White has lowered his sentence to 65 years.
Toney was caught in a video striking a group of bikers on Esplanade Avenue in Mid-City.
In the video, you see the victims innocently pedaling their bikes on Esplanade Avenue after Endymion last March.
Video of deadly Endymion Night bike crash shows Tashonty Toney flee scene Less than 30 seconds later, Toney goes flying by in his black Camaro.
Traveling 80 mph, he almost strikes one bicyclist, hits several cars, and then plows into the other victims.
He tried to flee the scene on foot after the wreck. His blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit.
unless the mann was just released from birth, an adult getting either 65 or 90 years in jail, his dead carcass will be hauled out of his jail cell!!
Unless otherwise ststed is a one day good time + 2 days served state and normally after 70% of a sentence is served in this manner the felon is released.
Proofreading is a lost art.
BTW, I just applied that rule given that I am on my first cup o' Joe of the day.

Were the victims White?
Then that’s why the reduction.
I need to start following that rule. Thanks.
Usually blamed on Auto-correct.
“...you see the victims innocently pedaling their bikes on Esplanade Avenue after Endymion last March.”
How do you “innocently peddle” a bike?

If it was not stolen.
“Criminal District Judge Laurie White had sentenced Tashonty Toney, 35, to 91 years in prison for two counts of vehicular homicide and a slew of misdemeanors in the fatal crash after the 2019 Krewe of Endymion parade. The term all but guaranteed Toney would die in prison.
But his attorneys objected, and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal threw out the sentence, ruling White didn’t adequately explain her thinking. On Thursday, she delivered a 65-year prison term, making Toney eligible for parole after 30 years.”
