I won’t go through every cabinet member but the fact that so many in government are willing to work against the President isn’t necessarily a failure of Trump. People who worked with him or even knew him in the private sector are extremely loyal to him and helped him build a great business. Lifetime government pukes who can get through Senate confirmation is a bit different. Would Trump have picked Wray if he could get Levin though the Senate? Would he have picked Tillerson if he could have gotten Rudy through the Senate? Trump’s personnel picks were people the deep state would allow him to pick. A major failing of the structure of the Republic is the fact that the Senate gets to (for all intent and purpose these days)staff the executive branch. When Trump could pick his people he picked very different people in his campaign. He absolutely would have picked Flynn over Mattis if the Senate would have let him. I remember those hearing, Rubio was so worried Trump was going to be brining in people who were weak on Russia. Every question was about Russia. What a joke.
Trump took a lot of criticism from our side for many of his lousy picks for Cabinet positions, etc., but at some point he had to fill those positions and so he was forced to put forth people that would get senate confirmation.
Trump did not have a reputation for hiring mediocre people in his private businesses. In fact, quite the opposite, which is what made his presidency so appealing to many of us.
We all figured Trump would get the right people into his Administration that would clean house and get things going in the right direction for our country. But Congress worked overtime to ensure that Trump's hands were kept tied for his entire Administration.
We should also recall that it took months to get even Trump's initial picks confirmed. Nothing like that ever happened before to a newly elected Presdient.
