DEROY MURDOCK: Republicans Should Demolish Democrats’ Voting Schemes — Not Mimic Them
The Daily Caller ^ | Murdock

The white flags are flapping in the breeze, thanks to Republicans willing to accept as permanent the “emergency” election rules that Democrats demanded during 2020’s COVID hell.

Longing for the elusive Red Wave, some GOP officials and operatives now suffer Stockholm Syndrome: They think it’s time to surrender to Democrats, swallow their dodgy vote schemes, and eventually sink them with early, mail-in and trafficked (harvested) ballots, drop boxes, ballots received and counted days and weeks after polls close, etc.

Murdock, IMHO, hits the nail on the head.

Georgia had a chance to lead the way in getting rid of these “covid policies” but the powers that be, either out of fear or complicity, chose to embed these policies into law. As did every other state.

Because of that, the Democrats are starting off 2024 with anywhere from 260-270 Electoral College votes.

Hochul only won a handful of counties in NY. But between mail in ballots, etc and winning the right counties that moron is the Governor of NY.

Fetterman can’t even put a sentence together and he’ll soon be voting in laws for the rest of us.

I’m afraid you are right we will not be able to roll any of this back at this point. We have to go Sean Connery in Capone.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but if we weren’t playing their game we wouldn’t need to worry about it

As for a few seats in the House, where there are enough RINOs that will side with the Dems when needed, it doesn’t matter.

Republicans, especially if McCarthy is the Speaker, will do nothing.

Any attempt to reverse the mail-in ballot rules would be overturned by activist judges.

We did do it here in CA. It’s not “Stockholm Syndrome” to fight fire with fire. Beside, look at the lineup of legislatures and governors. The notion that we could enact legislative repeals… of procedures that happen to be very popular with the voters… before 2024 is pure fantasy

That was the movie “The Untouchables” you’re thinking of and yes, that’s smart.

We can do both.

Let’s work to eliminate mail in voting and harvesting schemes. And until we do, let’s do them better than Democrats.

Let’s not let them put us in the disadvantaged position simply to play by rules they freely violate.

So don’t try?

And that also depends on a court case out of North Carolina.

https://theindependent.com/news/state-and-regional/future-of-u-s-election-law-at-stake-as-supreme-court-hears-north-carolina-case/article_55c2e33f-b426-501d-a347-079868049901.html

If SCOTUS sides with NC Republicans, activist judges won’t be able to overturn laws passed by the legislature.

“Georgia had a chance to lead the way in getting rid of these “covid policies” but the powers that be, either out of fear or complicity, chose to embed these policies into law. As did every other state.”

You’re talking pure garbage. Laws were passed in 2021 that changed voting in GA.

Georgia has virtually eliminated drop boxes (e.g., there was only a single drop box location in downtown Atlanta in 2022). No drop boxes on street corners, all drop boxes have to be at a public building. Drop box hours are 7am-7pm, no late night ballot dumps.

Mail-in voting in GA was down 80% in 2022 vs 2020. Mail-in ballots are a lot more difficult to get, and Dems have been forced to abandon ballot harvesting and to go back to in-person voting due to the time and effort required to get a mail-in ballot.

In-person voting in GA requires gov’t ID. The bar code on your ID is scanned. The computer is connected to both the Georiga license database and voter registration database. There is a paper trail showing everyone who checked in to vote.

The new law requires vote counting to continue until all ballots are counted. No breaks, no locking up and coming back in the morning, counting goes on all night and day until finished.

I can agree to that.

The problem I see, we in the Right aren’t as criminal and underhanded as those on the Left. It just isn’t in our nature to be that dirty.

Just look at one of the issues brought up by Kari Lake. A ballot rejected at first look, goes to another look to a next level “supervisor” where, if approved, cannot be challenged and it’s counted.

Agreed. Mail-in balloting should be stopped. They are an easy gateway to voter theft.

Some, like Newt Gingrich, say that we just need to emulate the Democrats in their ballot harvesting and voter theft techniques.
This is wrong. The Democrats, whose god is big government and power, will have no problem with engaging in voter theft - it being for the 'greater good'. The typical conservative (not all, but typical) would never engage in such larceny since they know that we ALL will appear before the judgement throne of Christ, and excusing one's crimes because another is engaging in criminal activity is not going to cut it. Thou shalt not steal, and Thou shalt not bare false witness.
The only solution is to shutdown the avenues of voter theft - like mail in balloting and ballot harvesting.

The use of ballot harvesting is a direct assault on the value of participating in a democratic republic. Every political philosopher that ever argued for democratic societies also contended that direct participation of a voting individual in the process was an obligation of citizenship.

By sending out ballots to people who didn’t volunteer to participate, just so their ballot can be harvested from them by paid partisans undermines to legitimacy and significance of one-person-one-vote. Universal mailing of unsolicited ballots that can be harvested by partisans is unjust, immoral, and subverts the letter and spirit of the Constitution.

I’m in Georgia. I’m aware of the rules

The original law banned mail in voting, drop boxes and harvesting. All three things removed at the “demand” the owes that be.

Butch Miller campaigned, unsuccessfully thank the Lord, to ban all them, funny he hasn’t put forth any legislation yet.

In 2020, Dekalb Cty destroyed its ballots within a few months of the election. Fulton Cty ballots were put in a shredder. All in violation of Georgia law. What did Raffensberger and Carr do? Not a thing.

In the 2021 Senate runoff, unknown Democrats in Fulton Cty were “adjudicating” over 90% of the ballots coming in.

And you really think that voting in Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Chatham, Richmond, Muscogee, Clayton, Henry are going to play by the rules? Laughable.

I’m sure you proudly voted for Kemp because he did such a good job during the covid nonsense, but don’t care that he’s selling out the state to any company from California that wants all that Georgia taxpayer money and tax breaks after promising jobs for everyone.

How about fully resolving the 2008 Norm Coleman- Al Franken U.S. Senate race, too? The Left has been busy working on Leftist Cheating in elections for a long time. All Leftist Cheating-and I mean ALL OF IT-needs to be on the table, in order it to be fully and finally resolved.

You mean the one where they proved enough convicted felons voted that pushed Franken to the finish line and no one did a damn thing about it?

That was disgusting

It’s too late to demolish them anywhere but, perhaps, Georgia. Democrats control the governorships in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Arizona.

Yes but if you use the mail in ballot you get two or three votes for some of the candidates for each ballot. When you vote in person you only get one vote per ballot.
