I use credit cards because it means I make one payment a month instead of dozens. It also means I pick up about $1,500 a year in cash back.

Although fewer are doing it, a lot of my vendors allow me to pay with a credit card without a fee. Spend $100,000 with one and a half percent cash back, it’s not a bad deal.

People use credit cards because they don’t have money in the bank.

Are you serious? I run thousands through my credit cards every month and I get handsomely rewarded for it. I also pay off all my credit cards in full every month because the money is already sitting in my credit union account. Credit cards are much easier to use than checks and much safer to use than debit cards, which offer zero rewards and are much more damaging when fraud is involved.

So just like a debit card or PayPal and similar…no credit anymore…

Very strange because they Chase Amazon Prime” card just jacked up my credit limit from 2500 to 7500.

I am not sure why they did as my credit is maintaining its Fico scores.

Heh. They’re making money from the business that accepts card payment. Credit cards are a bit like magazines. They have two income sources. in the case of magazines it’s subscriptions and ads.

It’s been a while, but when I managed a retail banking center the debit cards had the same protection as our credit cards. Maybe it’s a bank by bank thing.

We pushed debit cards because the transactions both made us money AND were cheaper to process than traditional checks.

“Get off of and stay off of social media. Kill the beast.”

A funny thing happened... I ordered some custom made parts from a specialty manufacturer (keeping it cryptic to protect the guilty). So I put in an order and a few days later I get a rude email with a refund notice. He said, “ I am refunding your order. You are up to no good because anyone who orders these would have an online presence. I couldn’t find anything about you on facebook, instagram, and only your name on a business registry. You are trying to copy my design.”

So even private etsy type sellers are so hooked on social media they won’t sell unless their customers are making fools of themselves on social media too. Facebook has trained its pets well.

I think it's more like 3 weeks or so now. But yes, it is nice. I have a few prime customers that pay me before the credit card bill even comes due. If I had a lot more of those I'd be ecstatic.

I was mostly venting. But I seemed to have hit the nail on the head.

You indeed hit the nail right on the head. Crazy that vendors won’t do business with people who don’t have facebook BS. His head would have exploded if I said I was “unvaccinated”

I have checked my own online profiles. All I have is out-of-date info, including 3-year-old physical addresses. This is my only social media.

I buy from Etsy all the time.

Your supplier is paranoid. Or under 35.

I used to hand-manufacture a popular niche item and I _know_ some people ordered from me (cheaper than the retailers I sold to) in order to reverse engineer, but so what? It’s not like anyone couldn’t figure it out anyway and the profit was not insane, either.

Also, I have noticed that most of my friends/acquaintances, family are not checkable online any longer, either. (I think a lot of people have had their online info removed on purpose). It is even difficult-to-impossible to find obituaries. Even the obituary sites that charge for results and use SS databases often return incorrect results. Where I used to live, the local newspaper is run by a regional conglomerate and they mix up the obituaries from 3-4 counties and include people who died in other states or countries.

Hopefully, you have other choices for your parts.
