We lose because Republicans with Trump Derangement Syndrome refuse to vote for Trump supporting candidates. There is a small but important (to win) part of the Republican party (think Cheney) that would rather lose to Democrats than have a MAGA candidate win. It’s as simple as that.

They supported Trump the 1st time because and ONLY because they thought that he might be more liberal than he was letting on. Once they realized ... OMG!!! he is actually going to do what we are only supposed to SAY we would do if elected they turned on him.

The GOPe never supported Trump. They just couldn’t stop him.

Hillary was happy with Trump, for a while, thinking he would split the Republicans and make her steal easy. When he began to look unbeatable he became a Russian agent (not that Hillary hasn’t been a real one her whole life).

Independents and swing voters also refuse to vote for these candidates and we can’t win without their votes as well, votes Trump won in 2016 but has lost in every election since.

Glenn Youngkin and Ron DeSantis showed us how to regain these voters. Trump wasn’t paying attention.

Trump also won a lot of Democrats the first time around. The NY Times published a list and a map of either congressional districts, or counties (wish I had saved it) that voted for Obama twice and then Trump.

All of them were between the Appalachians and the Rockies. Most of them were around the Great Lakes.

Most people here thought the messaging that won those districts - bringing back the jobs and closing the border - were secondary to their own ideas of greatness. But the Obama voters who actually elected Trump believed him - some of them still do - but not enough.

To do what Trump promised those people would require a chief executive able and willing to wield more power than FDR, and we have never had a weaker President in my lifetime, weaker in the sense of unable to form an effective government, even to the point of surrounding himself with snakes who laughed at him behind his back, published anonymous articles in opposition media attacking him, and eventually openly defied his orders in public.

He’s never getting those voters back. They may be unsophisticated but they aren’t stupid. Certainly not stupid enough to make “Dr. Oz” or Herschel Walker a Senator.

Precisely. How is what Trump did radical? He did what a president should do! I don’t hear a peep from the likes of Cheney about the disaster they replaced Trump with. Very sad!
