N 95 masks require that a User be properly fit tested. N 95s are disposable and should be discarded following a single use.

For a very long time I was unable to pass a ‘fit test.’ I believe that was because I am a pretty good size person, almost 6'2” and over 200Lbs. The ‘Testers’ always tried large sizes on me. Turns out, I require a small. It has to do with facial structure, mandible and such.

The surgical masks which are most commonly worn are completely useless for Virus.’ They might be good for coughing or sneezing, but stopping a virus, forget about it.

In my place I would have required at least 30 N 95s every single shift, minimum. Multiply that by just my Department and the numbers would be easily into the hundreds. The hospitals could not obtain that many. Their solution was to provide us all with Tupperware type bowls. Sanitize the Tupperware, reuse the masks. So, wear a mask into a Covid + room, put it into the bowl, reuse the mask in a Covid- room. Great solution. Nobody ever questioned it at my place. Just keep paying those bonuses.

I essentially shorted myself $100K easily when I left. One friend stayed, got the vaccine, and a few months following, Cancer diagnosis. Not sure how that turned out yet.

The whole gowning and masking protocols are ridiculous, but do it or find the door. I found the door.
