I think it’s more about being a team player. We can have differing opinions but should have the same goals or go play somewhere else.
“I think itโs more about being a team player. We can have differing opinions but should have the same goals or go play somewhere else.”
That is exactly what I have been trying to say.
For a few years before I retired, I was in management and led three large teams. I presided over two teams back-to-back in the morning (third shift/day shift) and then had the second shift team. My job was to push all three teams toward the company goal of better production, quality, etc. without letting them throw things across the table at each other. No ideas were stupid. All ideas and solutions were considered as equal. Nobody was allowed to be condescending toward anybody else over their ideas. All that does is shut down discussion and ideas.
During the day I had to be in a meeting with the plant manager and other managers to go over the team ideas.
I had my suck-ups (trolls in Internet language) that wanted to bend my ear in private to drive me to do what they wanted but I knew I had them and I knew what they were up to. The whole idea of “teams” is to throw out ideas that work toward the same goal, not to harass the people that have different ideas.
That’s what we should have here but it’s harder to shut down the trolls that are behind a keyboard.
