They are turning everything into a prescribed procedure. I'm experiencing now, a process of turning everything we do in the electric power industry into a written procedure that shall be followed verbatim.
Essentially, they're taking the thinking out of everything and replacing it with pre-written orders. The result - following orders regardless of the consequences. Granted, the outcome 90% of the time is probably an acceptable one, but that other 10%, where some thought might have brought about a better outcome, is being ignored.
Increasingly, we are seeing the result in a larger and larger group of people that can't reason their way through any situation, that can't even think for themselves. We are being turned into robots.

To support what you note about “proscribed procedures”, etc the thing I’ve noticed for decades is that our local doctors all want to be specialists. Nobody has a black bag. They each have their own cubby hole at the clinic. They can’t answer many questions without asking their “colleague.” Nobody is a house-calling GP. “Surgeons” only work on one part of a gizzard.
My own resident quack used to rag on me about my blood pressure being high. But I’m in way better shape than he is. His sphygmomanometer had no way to compensate for the muscle tension in my arms which could dead lift nearly 1.000 pounds in my training years. His dumbass machine couldn’t stop blood flow in an artery without blowing its top trying to collapse a muscle. He finally quit checking it and I bought a better machine that was smart enough to get a meaningful reading. I feel fine and he’s a slug but I do regular physicals just to keep the pilot’s license active.
And he won’t let me blow on his breathalyzer anymore since I blew its top off. So he basically just taps my knee and agrees I’m good to go.
