Maybe they were "successful" in a sense that they were elected, but two of those three were awful. I'd almost leave Nixon out of the mix because he was elected eight years after his first unsuccessful bid in 1960.

Here's a better list of running mates for both winning and losing candidates since Nixon left office:

1976: Mondale (D) and Dole (R)
1980: Bush I (R) and Mondale (D)
1984: Bush I (R) and Ferraro (D)
1988: Quayle (R) and Bentsen (D)
1992: Gore (D) and Quayle (R)
1996: Gore (D) and Kemp (R)
2000: Cheney (R) and Lieberman (D)
2004: Cheney (R) and Edwards (D)
2008: Biden (D) and Palin (R)
2012: Biden (D) and Ryan (R)
2016: Pence (R) and Kaine (D)
2020: Harris (D) and Pence (R)

Just look at this list. Almost every one of these people was a dull loser. Only a few of them were even marginally competent as leaders or candidates later, and most of them disappeared into obscurity after they left office. Biden is the only one who went on to be elected president, and he's been such an awful caricature in office that he'd have been better off if he'd just disappeared after 2016.

Maybe I mistook your intent when you said they were "losers."
