It all comes down to where DeSantis stands on sending trillions to Ukraine. If he supports it, he proves he is ultimately Uniparty. If he criticizes it in the least, Paul Ryan and the Neocons will drop him like 5th period French.

Time will tell…

Speaking only for myself, the debate is over. I’m ready to consider other Republicans besides Trump.

You are obsessed with leaving forum graffiti on DeSantis as if he’s the new head of some faction of the GOP. He’s not, but that doesn’t stop certain enemy camps from using and schmoozing him.

Let’s try it again:

Why are the MSM, the Establishment GOP, the Never-Trumpers clamoring to DeSantis?

The media hates anyone that challenges them and the Democrat establishment, so it doesn’t matter whether the nominee is Trump or DeSantis. They’re going to say the nominee is “literally a Nazi.” That said, I think it’s pretty clear that DeSantis is the GOP candidate of the future, for a number of reasons...

1. Trump has a lot of baggage, and he seems unable to learn from his mistakes. He just barrels forward. He seems to be a poor judge of character. He’s vulnerable to flattery. Which often means he places his trust in the wrong people and makes bad decisions based on perceived affection. For example, Michael Cohen, Jeff Sessions, etc.

2. DeSantis is an expert on policy. Trump isn’t. DeSantis can tell you why he’s right — and why you’re wrong. DeSantis spends a lot of time researching policy. For example, during COVID, he was actively reading broad, scientific research papers. He understood the science. He ignored the groupthink, and stuck to factual research. It served him and his state well. Florida emerged as a leader from the pandemic, and it’s largely due to DeSantis’s leadership.

3. Both Trump and DeSantis can handle the media, but in very different ways. Trump goes into “fake news” and character assassination mode. DeSantis attacks the media’s assumptions. He can debate. His points are compelling. Most “journalists” don’t know how to handle him because he fires right back at them.

4. Trump has a fairly large base of supporters, but I think that a lot of them don’t really like him, personally. They simply like that he won the 2016 election. People tend to admire winners. DeSantis is actually a pretty likeable guy. He doesn’t need to attack someone’s looks or their character in an attempt to “win” an argument. Trump turns a lot of people off in a way that DeSantis doesn’t.

5. Trump operates on gut instinct. While that may serve him well in business, it often doesn’t work in politics or in areas outside Trump’s area of expertise. He doesn’t seem to take the counsel of true experts seriously. I would expect a leader to form his own opinions based on advice, but Trump often rejected good advice in favor of his gut, and it cost him dearly.

6. Trump doesn’t seem to be growing his own base of support beyond where it was in 2020. To beat the Democrats, the GOP nominee will need to find a way to appeal to independents; otherwise, they’re going to get their asses handed to them. DeSantis might be able to do that.

Just my two cents.

I dont think Trump is electable, he beat Hillary partially because she was so hated. Its harder to hate a drooling vegetable than it is a witch. Not to mention Trump doesn’t have the ability to control himself.

Leftist Cheating will prevent any more Republicans from, ever, becoming president, again. Deny this all you want to, while The Left continues to win future elections, at each and every level. No Voter Integrity equals Cheating! Prove me wrong, please!

Interesting:

“Whether you like or don’t like President Trump, he fundamentally changed the way that diplomacy is conducted at the presidential level. He cut out a lot of the process. He would pick up the phone all the time and call a foreign leader and just riff with them the way you “What are you doing? What’s going on? What can we work on together? What can I do for you? And, more importantly, what are you going to do for us?” It really upset the bureaucracy because they didn’t have a role in that — “The president called who? Said what? Why weren’t we involved? Why didn’t we do a briefing on that?” He broke all of the norms, and now I think you’re going to see presidents on both sides of the aisle taking a page from that playbook.”

DeSantis should serve out his term as governor as the Floridians who elected him expect him to do.

1. GOP will never win without MAGA
2. GOP has not supported MAGA or Trump ever
3. MAGA contains many who never voted before Trump
4. MAGA contains many who hate politicians and the GOP
5. MAGA wants a fighter and the swamp drained

6. Many in MAGA will not vote for a candidate pushed by GOPe media and TDS.

Everything that is happening now will be the death of the GOP and MAGA - infighting, dem talking points, GOP agenda. That is their goal….since day one.

The GOP begrudgingly gave the Tea Party lip service, then watered it down, then killed it.

Winning doesn’t mean making things better, GOP history proves that. That’s how we got in this mess. The GOP was dead before Trump.

Neither of the are running yet, so your only purpose in doing this is to aid the Democrats. Why are you aiding them?

IMHO, someone should contact DeSantis and tell him to stay Governor until after Trump gets his 4 years owed to him. Then the whole Repub party would gladly support his run for 8 years. Desantis is young and has plenty of time. You could even make a deal that DeSantis could be Vice Pres with Trump to get ready for 2028.

To have this shootout right now IMO, is just suicide for both. Does anyone believe Desantis will be treated better than Trump was? It shows me that the Dem cabal is running both parties and the media. BTW, can anyone tell me why the next Speaker has to be a Dem wanabe? McCarthy is a joke. Nothing the Repubs want will be upheld with him as Speaker.

We know Trump keeps his promises and will take on the Republican establishment, Deep State and neocons. Illegal immigration reached its lowest level in decades under this watch.

George W. Bush and even Jeb Bush looked great as governors of conservative states.

Whether Trump or any other Republican willing to drain the swamp will ever be allowed to win again, though, is the question.

After reading all the arguments for and against Trump and Desantis, the one thing that keeps coming back to mind, is President Trump has too too much baggage that the socialists and media would bring up every hour once he declared himself. There are sill millions out there that believe the Russian collusion BS and other crap.

Sill, his policies did Make America Great Again, but Biteme has undone all those Executive Orders and turned America into a laughing stock.

Plus, the man just can't learn to keep his mouth shut. We all loved his direct fire on the media/politicians during his campaign and presidency. To me, it's gotten old since being out of office. Also, I wonder if he has learned much from all the poor choices he made regarding inner circle advisors and other appointees.

The above said, it's too early for me who should run on the 2024 ticket.

I loved Donald Trump as the president. His policies were awesome and he got things done.

I love it that he took it to the media and swamp on a daily basis.

He is definitely a man's man... however, he didn't know how to balance it all out and be liked by the independent voters. It's the independent voters that decide elections.

I am not saying that Trump needed to water down his stances . I'm saying that he needed to work at being more likable.

He's combative all the time, and that just doesn't play well with the majority of Americans. Plus.... he's starting to sound like a crybaby to many voters.

I know the RINOs hate him, and I'm not after their vote. I just want to see him stop all the ridiculous infighting.

I for one... have changed my choice and want to see DeSantis win the nomination. And I don't have a single acquaintance that supported Trump as much as I did.

He's hurting the movement now more than he helps it. I'll vote for him in a general election, but DeSantis would get my vote in a primary.
