Well-placed sources at the prison told DailyMail.com the disgraced socialite works just six hours a day in the library, has daily access to an array of sporting facilities, pottery sessions, and board game tournaments. She is said to have used her privileged upbringing to boost her popularity among the 755-strong female population – drawing on her Oxford education and literary savvy to recommend novels and history books.
Inmates even nominated Maxwell to represent them in an annual checkers competition – part of an Olympics-style ‘battle of the units’ tournament.
‘There is everything from kickball to hula-hoop but she was selected for the 40 and over checkers,’ an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘You want the best players and she has a reputation for being smart’ . The winning unit is rewarded with a ‘really good meal’ such as chicken wings and pizza - considered a gourmet delicacy compared to the usual food they are served.
