LL, I am pretty sure that CDY is pointing out that the number of the post to which on is replying is present in one’s responding post, so clicking on that number will take one back to the original post.

I didn’t know what the point was so thank you for the explanation. Ransomnote’s instruction/guidance in post 1H is:

“Please help our thread skip right along by including (quoting) an excerpt of the post to which you are replying.”

I try to follow this rule/suggestion so nobody has to click on anything or go back to understand the context of my reply. The post becomes self-explanatory. I liked DollyCali’s reminder about the excerpt since most people by now are skipping over the thread intro and may have forgotten. Some people won’t do that, so their sometimes otherwise excellent posts are missed and unappreciated.

When it's so much easier and respectful of me to just hit "copy", insert < I> past and make it easier for the reader. (extra spaces in this HTML for ease)

In most cases, my posts are written with "Gentle Reader" in mind.
