Thanks
My pleasure.
[Nice to see you, too. My plate has been full since my Lady died a year ago. ]
Thanks for the ping. Absorbing tale.
My pleasure.
I got chills while reading, honest. A cold wind came over me.
Nice story. I’ve got one similar. When I was in the Army, stationed at Fort Hood 1990-1992 I had base housing. I was a single parent and had two kids. Went on to Desert Shield/ Desert Storm, came back to Fort Hood and that is when the stuff started happening. It started in early September and continued until almost Thanksgiving. In early September my smoke alarm would go off at exactly 3am once or twice a week until around Thanksgiving. The smoke alarm would go off and alarm for 10 to 15 minutes if I let it, it would wake me and my kids up, they were 3 and 4 at the time, it would startle them but they knew it was the smoke alarm.I figured out I could push the reset/test button and it would shut off. Kind of just dealt with that for a few weeks. Then close to Thanksgiving it went off exactly at 3 am, I got up to shut it off and the door bell began to ring rapidly. While the fire alarm was still going, I went to the front door to see who was ringing the doorbell, as soon as I opened the door, the alarm shut off on its own and the doorbell stopped ringing. Never happened again. In December I had to turn on the heat, smelled like burning and I shut it off. Went to on base housing to get maintenance to come out to look at it. The civilian helping me pulled up the house’s records and told me that the central unit had been replaced a few years before because of a fire in the house. He then told me that a child had died in the fire. After he told me that I told him what had been going on with the smoke alarm and doorbell. He kind of froze and said the fire was before Thanksgiving and the child had died in the home (whether smoke inhalation or burned I dont know). Anyway, that is about the creepiest thing that I’ve ever experienced while in base housing.
I have enjoyed reading this story every year on FR for a number of years now.
Believe it or not, I thought of this a few days ago and was looking forward to it.
Thank you.
A perfect night for a great story. Thanks for sharing Swordmaker.
I saw that and i’m sorry. The only comfort I can offer is that I feel for you.
My condolences, and prayers for her and your family.
Good to see you posting, Swordmaker! I’m sorry for your loss and wish the blessings of God on you and yours.
Yeah, I don’t quite remember the twists and turns, but I’m too scared-ed to read it again. :^o
LOL - great tag.
I lived in a haunted house for a year. I should write a story about it.
Do it. Publish it here for us Creepers Freepers.
