This month: Thanksgiving!

This will be my last posting of the Monthly Cooking Thread.
I committed to doing this thread very soon after I signed up here, almost seven years ago – I wanted to do it because the periodic cooking threads were one of the things I really enjoyed during the many years of ‘lurking’; and when I joined, there didn’t seem to be anyone doing it routinely.
I’ve enjoyed managing this thread very much, and I’ve appreciated all of you who engaged our discussions.
Unfortunately, I can’t continue the thread as I’ve done in the past.
I welcome anyone who would like to carry it on, and the ping-list for the thread is on my homepage. (I’ve tried to keep the list in alphabetic order, and have never removed or added anyone unless they requested it. A lot of people on that list are probably no longer here, or are dormant.)
Again, I have greatly appreciated this experience, and all that I have learned from the many great cooks on Free Republic.
To quote the the late, great Julia Child:

You’ve done a great job managing the ping list. I haven’t posted in a long time, but every once in a while scout for recipes. I manage another ping list & don’t have time for this one. But congratulations on your ‘retirement.’ ;-)

I’ve always enjoyed your cooking thread although not one to post much. I have a binder containing many a recipe I’ve printed from this wonderful thread.

JT many many thanks for such a great contribution, it has been much appreciated. I hope someone can keep it going. I keep running into more and more people who never learned to cook from scratch or garden. These threads have been very worthwhile.

The Won in the cushy chair, followed by MAGA and finding
the people spending more personal time involved in politics. Thanks for the time spent. It is very much appreciated.
Hopefully an “Under New Management” sign will be hung with
speed. Over the years many delicious recipes, of all types,
have been shared here.

I’m pretty much a late comer to the ping list, but have enjoyed this immensely, thanks to your dedication!
I always used to brine my turkey, but amazingly, my son has taken over the turkey duties. He smokes them for us, so for the last 3 or 4 years, my Thanksgiving duties have been tailored down. It’s so nice to let go of some of the responsibilities! Hurray for having kids that grow up and take over!
They still want my apple pie and my gravy!

Many thanks for keeping up the thread. Anybody who devotes so much of their own time and effort to the benefit of others is on the path toward sainthood anyhow, but to do so with food involved will reward you with a special place in heaven.

Thanks for that, I’ve appreciated the threads greatly. I would suggest Trillian, but Trillian disappeared from posting quite a while back and used to do the Friday Silliness Threads for a short time.
