BREAKING
Elon Musk reportedly appears unlikely to pay the fired executives of Twitter - previous CEO Parag, CFO Ned Segal, and legal Vijaya Gadde - as he fired the executives "for cause," meaning he did it because he alleged he had justification, per the NYT.
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
And it's not a matter of whether he can afford it and not just a matter of principle.
It's a matter of turning Twitter into an economically viable enterprise.
Perhaps something to do with the alleged shadow banning of conservatives, etc.
GO ELON....(for this)!!
That, and maybe not being as forthcoming or honest about it as the new CEO would prefer.
Bots/spammers/trolls.
Twitter is infested with them.
I believe this was an issue over the valuation of the company.
He can afford to go to court over a whim, but it is not certain how the court will decide.
Those who corporate climb to the C level are always very good at covering their asses and if I were a betting man I’d say Elon will lose.
If they knew that the *real* subscription base was inflated during negotiations that would be a firing offense.
Whether he wins this fight or not is immaterial. Those people are counting on that money. Musk can tie it up for years while litigation goes on. And they know it.
They’ll offer to settle for a small fraction. Musk will give them some “go away” money and this will be over.
L
He may have to pay it out, but it will be after their reputations are purposefully damaged.
Anyone see three lawsuits on the way?
Musk might also have a mass firing on Monday.
A big chunk of Twitter stock is scheduled to vest for thousands of employees on Tuesday.
“Perhaps something to do with the alleged shadow banning of conservatives, etc.”
Or allowing millions of fake accounts to be created which inflated advertising rates and stock prices. Wouldn’t be surprised if he had them arrested for fraud.
One thing about Elon........he’s never boring 😏
He tossed a grenade into their laps.
Now they can sue Twitter but then there is discovery where they will be under oath to answer questions.
If they don’t sue they are in a round about way admitting they were less then honest running the company.
If they do sue they may face criminal charges.
A rock and a hard place comes to mind.
Man this is rich... Almost physically arousing in a way!!
That’s interesting for context. I hadn’t thought about this.
I assumed they will go to court to get their millions but what you say might put them off.
Be interesting to follow this one...
“per the NYT”
But no actual link to the NYT
Excellent comments. Food for thought!
The truth is in the code.
The code is in the hands of Tesla Engineers.
