Melania Trump Made the Surprising Decision to Join Forces With Michelle Obama & Hillary Clinton For This Historic Cause
SheKnows ^ | 10/21/22 | Kristyn Burtt

Melania Trump made an announcement on Twitter this week that had some users scratching their heads. She’s joining all of the living former first ladies — Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Rosalynn Carter, along with current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden — to join efforts to get a women’s suffrage monument erected on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

“I am honored to join @WomensMonument and serve as an Honorary Chair of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation to help secure a monument on the National Mall of enduring inspiration for women and future female leaders,” Melania tweeted. The Women’s Suffrage Movement lasted from 1848-1917 and helped secure a woman’s right to vote in the United States. The criticism being lobbed at Melania involves her husband Donald Trump, who has continued to lean hard into the false narrative that the election was stolen from him in 2020.

(snip)What some people may not know is that it was Donald Trump who signed the law to get the statue erected in the first place since women from American history are currently not represented on the National Mall — and it’s long overdue. With the assistance of the former first ladies and the current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, the monument is expected to be unveiled in 2027.

More women suffering. Sounds like a Biden plan.

One of the most tragic decisions America ever made.

I realize that a sizable number of women on Freerepublic, and likely an even more sizable number of men, oppose women’s suffrage

I am lukewarm on universal suffarge, but the founders had it largely right in attempting to balance interests through varying the electorate for legislative bodies, and I agree with the principle that at least one body ought to have a low threshold for suffarge.

Maybe on the national level the Senate could be resticted to biological men and the House to women, and if the majority feels a need to create additional chambers for LGBTQ+, well, the government governs best that governs least.

However, restricting suffarge is not a winning political issue in general.

Not as bad a decoupling state representation from state tax-payments, which was done through the income tax, or the shifting of the Senate to the popular vote.

The popular election of electors as a slate was also a stupid idea that undermined the electoral college, but by 1860 nearly everyone was doing it (the last hold out being South Carolina).

As I understand it the Electoral College was meant to function more as another College, the College of Cardinals. While that College has a mixed record, the only other mode of selecting leadership that has endured consistently on paper longer is some of the hereditary monarchies, and most of them hamore of regicide in the mix than the Cardinals due.

I’m happy there are at least few activities that Melania can join the other first ladies on. It cannot be easy being the spouse to a past president who many treat as a negative influence on America. There are simply going to be hot button issues no one brings up for casual discussion.

I think it’s interesting that the other FLOTUS chicks are involved. They probably aren’t even aware that...

The monument is going to be erected anyway with or without Melania. Wisely she joined, thus avoiding negative criticism.

Kankles and the other Dims don’t want us to remember that Susan B Anthony was a Republican both because of abolition and because the Dims were adamant that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. The Dims in the Senate blocked the 19th amendment repeatedly — it wasn’t until the Republicans gained control in 1919 that it was passed and sent to the states.

I’ve spent years studying masculine vs feminine consciousness in the thought and decision making process.

Both are equally important, but have different attributes. Masculine consciousness is better at long term, bigger picture decisions. Feminine is better at the shorter term decisions.

Notice I stated masculine and feminine, not male and female. We all have both aspects, no matter the gender.

The ideal is that we embrace both within ourselves and connect them with Love. Only then can we make good long term logical decisions with care and compassion on the short term.

Considering that the Rats cannot define what a “woman” is, what is the point of this monument? Anybody can be a woman now. The very word is obsolete.
