My friend was telling me he was watching the pregame show for the MLB playoff game between the New York Yankees and the now Cleveland Guardians. [The game is currently rained out]
The announcers are Ernie Johnson and Hall-of-Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez. Martinez started calling them the Indians, and Johnson tried to current him, but Martinez just keeps calling them the Indians. Johnson was visibly annoyed and kept saying, "You mean Guardians."
Even after the commercial break, he came back and said Indians. And Johnson was saying Guardians as many times as he could, and it became passive aggressive
Or just shorten it to “Reds”.
I’m part American Indian....and all the this WOKE crap is crap.

The NCAA decreed that all colleges and universities associated with the NCAA that had indian names had to change them....
The NCAA is headquartered in INDIANapolis, INDIANa....

Cleveland and Washington owners showed COWARDICE capitulating to this nonsense.
Is the plight of Native American’s living on tribal reservations improved in any way because some sports franchised changed their names? Be serious.
This has nothing to do with racism or prejudice.. just lunacy. Only people I know pushing this sort of nonsense or effeminate white men and liberal white women.
I am not Indian but I always thought that changing all these names was taking something good away from the Indians.
Remove the Indian, keep the land. Typical.

My brother lived there for years and told us the history.. The new team is named for the Guardian sculptures who have watch over Hope Memorial Bridge since the 1920s.

The purpose of colleges these days is to make everyone as stupid as possible.
They were the Spiders way back when....far better name than Guardians.
