I was reading a book by a guy I admire greatly and had to put it down and laugh when he talked about the beauty of the Greek and Roman Pantheon.
I have to wonder if he ever read anything beyond the nursery version of those stories.

I remember a find from a dig in Russia where a child mummy was found buried, the traces of tears still on his face.
Humans have an ugly past but simultaneously have been capable of producing great beauty like the Parthenon. We're a weird species.
