I agree alot of parents are behind this trend....and i believe “trans” is yesterday’s “gay”.
All for attention on both kids and parents.
A very apt analogy.
Unfortunately the entire teacup dog industry (and it's not restricted to chihuahuas) revolves around certain people, usually upper class women, wanting to be stylish and the center of attention. To them, having a tiny dog is "cute" and a conversation starter.
The breeding involved to get these dogs so tiny is often sketchy and even downright unethical and cruel. It's not great for the dogs either, as being so unnaturally small causes health problems as well as making them very fragile. But hey, the woman gets lots of attention at her social events as every other woman there comes over to coo and such.
This is the same type of women that look to feminize their boys and make them into "cute" girls. If they see the slightest feminine behavior from their little boys, they will reward and encourage it because they know that in their circles, it is considered trendy and even sophisticated to have a transgender child and they will dress the poor kid to the nines and parade him around in Mary Jane shoes, dresses and makeup for all their "progressive" friends to fawn over.
They are messing their children up for life but they simply do not care about the welfare of their child, any more than they care about inbreeding dogs to be tiny and cute.
Sorry if this is taken as an attack against women, that is not the intent. I know that over 90% of women would never do this to their children. But I do not see a single man trying to feminize his own son or turn his daughter into a mannish boy on his own. The fathers that are involved in these crimes are almost always taking the lead of the mother in these cases.
I have nothing but contempt for the men who allow their children to be victimized like this. If they are not man enough to step up and put a stop to it, they are no men at all.
