Sasse won reelection in 2020, and his term was not set to expire until 2026. But Sasse has been at odds with Trump and his own party for years. After the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, Sasse was one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump for his role in inciting the deadly riot.
Senate Republican leadership has been alerted of the news, a leadership aide told NBC News.
According to Fox News, Sasse is headed to the University of Florida for a lucrative gig.

Yes, sadly the administration and faculty (and students) at UF lean decidedly left.
Its a completely different story among us alums.
Urban definitely liked the coeds. Then again, if he kept winning national titles, I’d have been just fine with it. Shelley had a problem with it but not me. LOL!
I remember Michael Medved was a big supporter of Sasse and we all know how Michael went to the darkside🥴.
Would the Governor of Nebraska be an improvement over Sasse?
_________
Yes!! sASSe hasn’t really shown any inkling of caring about anything except himself. No public town halls, etc., when everyone else is out there. I think he saw what Wyoming voters just told the Lizard and didn’t want the same fate in several more years.
Don’t you mean Sarasota?
Do you have the name of that RINO? Are you talking about the temporary appointment or the next elected senator from Nebraska? Educate us about who will be appointed/elected. Who are the leading candidates?
The governor is a Republican, but he’s a wealthy country-club Republican. His family owns the Chicago Cubs. I wonder what kind of senator he’ll appoint. We might wind up missing Sasse.
Home of the Apostate Jesuits? He would have fit right in.
It’s very strange for a US Senator, especially a young one, to retire even before their term is up.
This could be a good sign that the entire Congress including the Senate is soon to be overrun with new MAGA blood, and Sasse knew this and didn’t want to be a part of it.
Either that or something else is up with him personally, I’m just not buying that some new college gig even at UF would lure someone from the Senate alone.
Good Riddance, rat-face
