A local think-tank just reported that the state's cities have some of the highest crime rates in the nation. Guess why.
The Common Sense Institute (CSI), a think-tank local to Colorado, reported at the beginning of October 2022 that the state's cities have some of the highest crime rates in the nation.
"Crime in Colorado in 2022: The Data on Colorado's Increasing Crime Problem" was authored by George Brauchler, Mitch Morrissey, and Steven Byers, Ph.D.
"It is very difficult to comprehend Colorado, the Colorado I grew up in ... hosting four cities in the top ten for all these crime rates," said Brauchler at a related news conference, according to The Denver Gazette. Brauchler is the former district attorney for Colorado's 18th Judicial District.
As a fourth-generation Coloradoan, I am also shocked by the findings and by how far our cities have fallen under Democrat governance.
The first paragraph of the first section of the report, "Introduction and Key Findings," gives a reason for the rise in crime. "Advocates for criminal justice reform have made significant inroads in the past few years. Measures have been enacted to decriminalize a range of crimes, reduce the punishments for committing crimes, and pursue decarceration through various means. The results of these actions have had a serious and lasting impact on Colorado communities, resulting in increased crime and a decrease in public safety."

Elections, thoughout Colorado, have been rigged in my humble opinion.
You can’t vote yourself out of this kind of a disaster anymore. You just have to move.
Colorado is the new California. The Batsh*t Crazy State.
They're just following the SAME, idiotic model of NYC, LA and other lib damaged cities.
Definition of insanity, for sure.
To a point, but there’s a big military retiree (read: conservative) population out there.
“retiree” — 45 years plus, right? That cohort lasts another 25 years, but is down by at least half in 10-15 years.
Legal marijuana — One of the biggest delusions of all times. So harmful to young, still forming brains. I admit, I never figured that various greed driven states would tax the legal so high, that the illegal THC/marijuana sellers would outgrow the legal sellers.
A libertarian fantasy blows up along with open borders. Though these days, honorable libertarians have disowned open borders.
The CSI (Common Sense Institute) needs to relocate to some place where there is some.
The only two winless Division 1 college football teams are in Colorado.
Living close to Colorado, & if at all possible from now on I don’t intend to even cross the state line. It is just too dangerous & it’s a shame as there is much beauty in the state.
It is a shame. I left Colorado, after over 20 years, because of the wokeness. Florida is hot, has many biting bugs, has no mountains, but damn, I am free.
At least they did not stop Air Force by wokeness.
That is my impression, too.
Some people, as it seems to me, appear to be able to handle cannabis use much better than others - just as it is with alcohol.
Plenty of people have a glass of wine, brandy or beer now and then, and nonetheless manage to live law-abiding, healthy and productive lives.
OTOH...most of us have heard of alcoholism and its horrible effects some time in their lives, or even had to witness them personally.
