Lived on North Island for a year in 1986. I miss the fish taco’s and ceviche.

According to the data-driven study published by Clever Real Estate on Sept. 29, San Diego fell far behind seven other cities based on the percentage of revenue each city’s restaurants chalked up to taco sales,

That metric doesn't tell you how good the tacos are. It tells you the demand for tacos.

The best tacos are kinda greasy; but I don’t think food snobs go for that. Hence the disrespect, maybe?

You’re mostly right, FRiend. It’s Roberto’s. Their rollers were the best.

Used to go to Roberto’s Tacos when I was in college in SD. I don’t know if they’re even in business anymore.

Not a Taco but the worst breakfast burrito I’ve ever had was in San Diego. Eggs were I think scrambled in water, cheese was at best on par with the stuff they put nachos at ballparks, was supposed to have had sausage in it but I never saw or tasted any, picante sauce might as well have been ketchup and finally I think they just waived the flour tortilla over the stove twice to heat it up.

It’s absolutely impossible for San Antonio not to be leading the list in number of tacos eaten. You can’t drive a mile on any commercial street in San Antonio without passing many hole-in-the wall family run taquerias, each one with its own flavor and fans that keep it in business.

If the criteria is based on reported dollar values/sales, then it might be possible that SA is further down the list BECAUSE THE PRICES ARE SO LOW AND REASONABLE.

totally agree, once I went to a restaurant in Arizona and ordered machaca (typical Mexican northern food) it was horrible

Exactly, Mariscos mojo de ajo and some torts, used to be my go to. Around these here parts even the Mexican joints do not serve this to my liking.
