I had heard you shouldn't let dogs have chicken bones because of the way they splinter.

Only cooked bones shouldn't be given to dogs (or cats) because they splinter. Raw bones are ok. After all, dogs (and cats) eat raw bones in the wild.

My pups just LOVE the raw chicken feet you can buy in the grocery store. Those are a special treat. Just don’t cook them first.
