And he wangled a commission with no apparent skills, or actual education, at all? And he stepped into a 3 man fighter/bomber? Still couldn’t hit Chichinitsu but he got a ride on a submarine for missing. The book “Flyboys” covers most of that.
It never occurred to me to consider Bush's age and education level. It was just that stuff about the cannibalism and the bravery of our young Pilots back then. What a generation that came into prominence during those years.
