Twasn’t a twinkle in my Dad’s eye yet. I think a third of them are hoping for it to end thier own miserable existence, 17% have taken notice. The rest in the forest and are complaining about 401k stocks, gas, food and the price of everything else.

How did everyone react back then?

OMG - “I think a third of them are hoping for it to end thier own miserable existence,” - I have seen this recently ... it is so sad. Time is of the essence ... I pray those who are at the gate will gather the strength & faith to open the gate and go through.

How did everyone react back then?

AS A CHILD, and living under the flight paths of three major airports, at night I was sure every loud pass over as the BIG ONE.
Every time we hid under our desks during air raid drills, we cried.

Our parents were visibly frightened. There was plenty of muttering about JFK not being up to the stand-off -

and there were quiet celebrations when the Russians backed down.
