I am very optimistic. I think most of the immigrants, illegal or otherwise, want to become “American.”

Please bear with me while I opine.
Back in the day children in the United States were raised to love this Country. They were taught its founding; they were taught the Constitution; they were taught respect..not only for Country but in many other areas.
Those days are gone. The last generation to truly understand what it is to be an “American” to love country, God and family, are aging. Not using a broad brush, I know many young people who have the old fashioned qualities I mentioned. My point is about immigrants that have not been raised to respect anyone or anything.
The immigrants that I see crossing this boarder illegally have NO CONCEPT whatsoever ofLove of Country. Their motivation is greed or other nefarious reasons. They want a hand out, they want, want, want, take, take take….
It is hard enough for an immigrant that understands freedom to climatize to this country and become a true U. S. citizen. But those I see today have no interest in contributing at all. They were not raised right.
It has been evident for so many years that it seems almost redundant to express it. These people who illegally cross our borders do not desire to be American, they simply want to be in America. It is an important distinction.

Yes, this is the concern.
Yet I see thousands of Latinos working in every type of job in my city. These are not looking for a handout.
I believe America should be the easiest "Sell" in the world--even now--to anyone who is willing to work.
The key messages are "Freedom", "Opportunity" and "Independence;" a reliable "Rule of Law" government, not of men.
On second thought we'll have to show them this is still the real America.
The ones who worry me the most, aside from the CCP, are the mega-billionaires, like nation states themselves, and their global corrupt organizations, who think they can buy or otherwise control the powers of U.S. government, which should, by definition via the opening premise of the Declaration, belong to The People.
We are not a people ... we are The People.
People who love this country come here legally. They do not come here illegally. They do not invade.
You know, ten percent of Filipinos either immigrate or get temporary jobs overseas. Recruiters publicize for jobs check credentials and arrange passage.
The US could do this and did it in the past for agricultural workers. So why is no one proposing it now?
