A few years ago, a couple of geniuses went down to Florida and caught a couple of largemouth bass and then transported them alive to a bass fishing tournament being held in Oklahoma. (The fresh-water fish grow bigger the further south one gets, because it DOESN’T GET COLD THERE. /Sam Kinison voice.)
BIG prize money involved.
It took the wildlife biologist on hand about a minute to determine that “these fish are not from around here...”
Another example to tell your kids, “Don’t be that guy.”
In Hong Kong seven or eight years ago a couple of HKU mathematicians/Computer scientists came up with a program to bet horses. They could win about 60% of their bets. I have forgotten how they were caught.
The White Marlin Open in OCMD each August brings yachts from all over. A few years ago the “winner” of the white marlin class was found to have cheated and was disqualified. Other fishermen had seen that boat jump the gun and start before the official start time. He lost a prize of over $1 Million. This summer the winning white marlin won $1.4 Million, IIRC. Two years ago a guy caught an 804 lb. BLUE Marlin. He won over $100,000. for that. I forget the exact figger. White Marlin win the highest prizes because they are more rare than blues.
and then we have people that have the fake trophy heads...
