I like Jelly Roll. My favorite is ‘Dead Man Walking’, but this one is good. The dude has some serious issues though...some of his stuff is so nihilistic and wallowing in depression and an inability to control his behavior.
If I’m gonna listen to a dude with mental issues, Falling In Reverse is more my speed. And for all that guy’s problems, he’s a little more fun about it and at least some of his songs have a light at the end of the tunnel. Different kind of music though.
Probably because that one is more along the vein of Rap, while the one he presented could be considered country.
“My favorite is ‘Dead Man Walking’”
Thanks much for that suggestion! That is a good song, very Linkin-Park-ish or Audioslav-ish to me. Much better than the “Son of a Sinner” country song in this thread.

However, neither JR song does anything for me lyric-wise. From reading the comments on YouTube for both songs, it seems that his lyrics hit hard with alcoholics and drug addicts.
It’s good to be surprised with others’ interpretations and appreciations of songs. As with any art, the beauty is in the eye, or ear, or inner being, of the “observer.”
