The US government expects households to see their heating bills increase by 54% compared with last winter. U.S. consumers will spend more to heat their homes this winter than last year due to surging energy prices, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projected in its winter fuels outlook on Wednesday.
US natural gas has climbed to its highest price since 2014 and is up roughly 90% over the last year. The wholesale price of heating oil has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
The biggest reason for this winter’s higher heating bills is the recent increase in prices for energy commodities after they dropped to multi-year lows in 2020. Demand has simply grown faster than production. Another reason for the rise is how global the market for fuels has become.
Additionally, thank Democrats who are destroying the fossil fuel industry with nothing ready to replace it. Democrats said they want to increase fossil fuel costs exponentially so solar and wind look more attractive.
Those in the midwest would see bills up an estimated 49%. This could be the most expensive winter for natural gas-heated homes since 2008-2009.
The National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) estimates it will cost Wisconsin residents from 1,025 to $1,202 to heat an average home this winter. That’s an exorbitant increase of more than 17.2% compared to last winter. It’s the second year in a row of major increases.

Biden’s making the world poor again...
Driven by Biden policy, and they either think the people can afford it or want to impoverish everyone because they want the great reset to usher in glorious “revolution”.
I dug deep and have about 900 gallons of HHO, three spilt cords of seasoned firewood, and 100 pounds of propane going into witer.
thanks a big tank
My electric bill has doubled, I can’t wait to be able to turn the air off this year OMG on top of everything else it has been insane!! I don’t need heat in the winter I am in the desert and it remains warn enough to not need heat THANK GOD!!
“winter”
This is brutal
2 330s at my house, and a 250 at my office.
Biden Winter
Thanks Brandon
I remember people laughing at those dumb Europeans, crying about their heating bills the last couple of weeks. Not me, I knew the other shoe would soon drop on us.
In Texas, the electricity is deregulated unless you are on a co-op. I locked in the spring at 9 cents/KWH for two years.
I don’t understand the reasoning for natural gas being considered a “no-no” — I’ve always thought it was clean burning, efficient and relatively abundant in the US.
We currently have a natural gas-supplied home. We cannot afford to get all new appliances & a new HVAC & water heating system — plus it would be unsafe to configure all those over to electric with the OLD & already stretched to the limit wiring system in our home.
Solar/Wind is not a viable or even an available option in our area.
I simply do not understand these idiot politicians & “activists”. Are we supposed to freeze, or risk losing our home because we can not pay both mortgage and these insane bills? We now have my daughter & family living here because they cannot afford a home or apartment at this point, so I guess we let the grand-kids freeze too??
As I read here a few weeks back ... if these “green” systems & vehicles were so wonderful, they would not have to FORCE people to utilize them ... & there’s no sparkle-fart unicorns out there supplying magical electricity, either!
Not looking forward to Biden in a sweater lecturing us about “malaise” and doing our “fair share” UGH!
At this rate, I expect that only dead people will vote for him in the next election, because they don’t pay any bills.
Residential natural gas burners produce a small amount of Nitrogen oxides during combustion which convert to ground-level ozone.
The government has set low limits for ground-level ozone. Suddenly, natural gas is evil because of ozone.
It is supremely, utterly ridiculous and insane to kill NG when there are virtually NO alternatives.
If the government says it’s going up by 54% then expect it to go up by 300%.
Who will relieve us of this asshole president?
Up from the year before so way up now and you know the 54% is the low balled percent like the inflation numbers they put out.
